I finally finished (almost) my 70 Dart this summer. It is an original 340 4spd plum crazy bench seat car with 3:55 gears. When I got it, it was painted the wrong shade of purple (more like lilac), the vinyl top had been removed and it had small whitewall tires on 14" rallys (yuck). The interior had worn out 72 Duster seats, the headliner was in bad shape and the door panels, armrests and bases were all missing. The window cranks and door handles were badly pitted. The only things in the interior that were nice was the dash and the carpet which was new. On the exterior, I had it repainted the correct color FC7 and added the hood blackout, put on a new vinyl top, added wheel lip moldings and SS exhaust tips. In the interior, I got new seats and had them reupholstered, new headliner, new door panels, new window cranks, new door handles, new pistol grip shifter, added pedal dress-up trim and I replaced the steering wheel with a Grant wheel. The 340 has T/A heads and ran very well so I left it alone internally. Externally I added new ceramic TTI headers (to replace the cheapo white headers that were on it), a polished Air Gap intake (to replace an LD-340) and a new 770 Street Avenger carb. (to replace an Eddy 500 cfm), MP valve covers and Cal Custom air cleaner, chrome alternator and a couple of other chrome items. I installed a MP offset spring kit and replaced the wheels and tires. The car had power brakes and manual steering when I got it but I switched it to manual brakes and added power steering. The only things left that I want to do are to change the hood to a dual snorkel type scooped hood like on the 72 Dustes/Demons, put the black tailstripe back on it and install a set of aftermarket gauges and an AM/FM radio. I also have an STR-12 crossram that will be going on it soon. Here are some before and after pictures of the car. The last picture was taken on a cell phone at our local cruise night.
