This is how it sits now,i'm currently working on the cowl and stripping the paint off the doors and fixing some minor rust problems.

Looking good. Did you tuck the new panel under the cut line?
I'm looking to do this next year on my Duster.....I think....

No i overlapped it,i got a tool from Eastwood that crimps the area where i cut the old one off and it lets the new panel lay in flush then just welded it up.

Can you give me some info on the tool? Part number/discription/price web link?
Weld in and out?

Evil, what did you cut the panels out with. Is the tool you refer to called a flanger which crimps the metal about a 1/2" from the edge. I'm going to replace both quarters on my 72 Demon when I get time. I bought a welder, plasma cutter and the flanger tool. I've done some painting and body work but never replaced sheet metal. Anything more you can show will be appreciated. Maybe some close ups taken during the welding so I could see how the metal was laid in place, if you have any. Nice job.

Basically it's a pair of vise-grips with pieces welded to the jaws so when you lock them down it makes the offset.

Web site is eastwood.com
The correct name for them is Panel FLanger Part No. 31092

Yes that is the same tool as i have,i just used an air cutoff tool.
One big tip i can give you is cut your panel off and leave the pieces around the wheelwell and along the door jamb then after the panel is off go back and drill out the spot welds and remove the pieces.
It makes for an easier job by removing them last in small pieces rather than when they are still attached to the rest of the panel.
Sorry these are the only pics. i have of my work.

This is my first major restoration so alot of it was learn as i go when i was doing the qtrs. and trunk floor exts.,my body work is getting better i have ALOT of hours in the qtrs. getting them straight.
My next big goal after the body work is all done is to learn how to paint!

Hey Kev nice to see the Duster coming along. I'm still in Vegas and my Duster is still in Hawaii. I guess my 2 year project will be trying to get it here.
