Well, I've got too many projects and not enough time. If nothing else but to clear out some garage space so I can get busy on the Dart, I have to put some time into my Chevy truck project. Don't scroll down if you're offended by bowties.

Here is what I've done in the last few weeks...

Stripped the front frame...

and xmember.

Did a little painting.

then some more painting.

Bolted some parts together.

And set the engine in.

Hopefully in the next couple weeks I can get the A arms rebuilt so I can install the suspension and steering. Then I can set the front clip on and clear out half of the garage and dedicate it to the Dart. At least I'm getting some good practice. 8)

looks good... how big is that rat?

It's a 454HO crate motor. Forged bottom end, hydraulic roller, and rectangle port heads. Supposed to be good for 425hp@5250 and 500ft/lbs@3250. I'm hoping my 416 stroker will have better numbers.

Wrong my buddy has the same motor an he only made 347hp an 420ft. sad numbers thinking what they say they can do,but hey thats the way chev is an most of the reson why people love them over the M's an ovals, they make there buyers think they have the most power for there money but in return yur getting a fonny motor with wack *** numbers

Zombie did your friend run his on a chassis dyno ?
Remember no 2 dynos will give you the same numbers anyway.

 I was wondering the same thing. The published numbers I quoted are at the flywheel. I have actually heard from independant sources those are conservative. Guess I'll find out once I get it running.

yes on the chassis dyno an yes i know that the numbers very over the flywheel,he went to two diff shops an one was a few hp lower then the other,he wasnt impresses an he sold the motor an trans to some kid with a chevelle,an the last i heard he blew the motor,my buddy just built a 406 SB for his car an he's confident hes going to get around 460HP with this one,i cant wait to run that car its gonna be a good race

On a Chassis Dyno you'll loose close to 100 horse running all the accessories and driveline so that would put the motor right at its rated power.
