is that a plain jane swinger or a 340 car? nice paint!

Looking great.
Please paint the lower radiator support with some satin or semi flat black.

Thanks guys... here's the story on the car...

I bought this car in 2003... it had been sitting for 7 years when I bought it. It's a factory GY3 car, came with a 318/904/7.25 .. now has a 360/904/8.75 ... got painted in April (about 6 weeks ago).. I've done a lot to it since 2003.. except DRIVE it!! Hoping to do that this year!

as far as the details...

Engine:
remanufactured 360
Comp Cam XE268H cam
Edelbrock Performer 600 cfm carb (model 1405)
Edelbrock Performer intake
Headers
MSD 6AL with Electronic Ignition distributor

Trans:
Rebuilt with Griner Reverse Manual Valve body with Low Band Apply
Koleans steels
Kevlar bands
Upgraded clutches
Low 1st gear set
2400 stall converter

Rear end -
A Body 8.75"
3.55 Sure Grip
Yukon big bolt pattern axles

Front brakes
Upgraded to later-model A Body big bolt pattern brakes (with power brakes)

Electrical -
I have rewired the whole car using the EZ Wiring harness kit, as well as put together a custom gauge cluster, using a '72 model dash

Here's a few pictures from the last 9 years showing the work...

When I first got it...

And a video of it running, ... I was having some 'challenges' getting it to run right for a couple weeks.. so that's why you see me doing a 'happy dance' once it fires up :)

I have only seen ONE other factory GY3 Dart Swinger.. it was recently listed on eBay (for too much money)... this is one of my points of pride with the car.. makes it fairly uncommon..

I don't like yellow on cars...
But with this one I'll make an exception...
:glasses7:

BTW. What's the colour code?

Thanks guys.. it's been a LONG time coming.. for a long time, I felt like I was so completely upside down and underwater in this car, I didn't think I'd ever get it done. I was completely overwhelmed for a few years, which resulted in me not getting much done for long periods of time. I can't believe it will actually be on the road this year for the first time..

Nice job Mark! I see its LA built car too. Was it undercoated in areas other than the rear wheel wells, or just black? When do you plan on being able to drive it? Great progress, keep it going!!!

Looks really good Mark. Seems like I remember a video several years ago? The one of you and Primer Duster starting the motor? :D The slo mo version was the best one....lol. Congrats on all you've done on the car. :prayer: I know how you feel with the GY3. My GY3 71 Challenger always stands out in a crowd. When I take it to a show, it's the only GY3 car there 99.9 % of the time. When I take my FC7 Challenger....I can park it with the 300 other FC7 cars there...lol.

I haven't noticed undercoating anywhere else than the rear wells...

I am HOPING to be able to drive it this summer... even though Sacramento summers are into the triple digits - I DON'T CARE ... I want to drive it!!!

:)

First, I need to figure out why it's leaking oil like the Exxon Valdez...
Oh, and I need windshield, back window, vinyl top, headliner, blah blah blah... :)

Thanks! Yeah, that was me and Cameron starting up the engine for the first time ... with the distributor 180 degrees off.. .a 3 foot ball of fire shooting out the carb, nearly burning out eyebrows off... that was entertaining :)

I love the fact that I've NEVER seen another GY3 Dart .. I've seen Demons in GY3 .. I've seen cuda's and Challengers in GY3.. but NEVER another Dart.. I know it's not a 'collectible' car, but it does add to the cool factor (at least, in MY eyes :) ) ... I know it will be unique, and while it won't be a show winner, it'll be decent looking :)

Thanks for the encouragement!

I dunno if I'll trust it for that long of a drive for a while... I would love to.. but driving this thing that far in August scares me a bit... I need to get some miles under it, to check the reliability factor :)

Update..

I've been saving some money to be able to get it finished up.. it's in a shop in Sacramento right now, getting the vinyl top done, headliner installed, interior finished, trim/windows installed, all that fun stuff .. it's really coming together!!!

The car looks great. I didn't realize you were a mopar lover, or a member on this board. I met you at Sacramento raceway. You were shooting cars, it was a warm day as usual and I was there with John (Warhorse). I will be following this thread. Keep up the good work.
