This FTI converter is the absolute best converter I've ever purchased. Better than the PTC I bought. And the Hughes, TCI, and whatever else including GER.
Comparing the 9.5" PTC to the 9.5" FTI, just on the bench the build of the FTI was cleaner/better. Also, the FTI drives better on the street yes flashes up right where I would want.

Testimonies from my viewers were very positive. Some with very fast cars.

I'm only putting this out for anyone looking for a converter, PTC and Ultimate converters seem to always get the nod in suggestions. I'm only saying FTI is worth a look.

Yeah, they look to be a decent converter.

What rpm did it end up flashing at ?

really can't "pin-point" tell with wheel spin. If I roll slow and mash it, it's up around 2800 but sounds and feels perfect and right what I'd hoped.

Why does it bother me so bad that your steering wheel is upside down?

When I went to manual steering, that's where it ended up and never took the time to straighten it...
I love it because it messes with the viewers... Truck is the same way

By the way... kudos to my wife for great camera work in the car.... trying to hold the camera still and keep on the focus point while I am snaping the gas and flooring it, couple times with the back end kicking out.

I have used Edge converters on my slants for many years. Very happy with them. FTI is only is only about 45 min from me so I decided to try them. Alas, life got in the way, and I haven't had a chance to finish the car it will go in.

Cool videos! You're definitely going to notice the lower first gear everything else the same. I'm sure it's tough to make everyone happy being in the converter business but, if it were me building them, I would error a 'miss' on the high side of the requested stall.

I have tried all of those converters you listed. The COAN converter has been the quickest with the most mph in my combo.

I like Coan, and I know a guy that works for Coan. I considered them as well.

I have an FTI 3800 to 4000 behind my 408. It flashes to about 4200 and works great. It’s a little loose but that’s because it’s a hard hit. Workmanship looks excellent. I will buy again. The price was very reasonable for what you get.

Back in the old days, we used Vega converters behind 350's. We could get about half a season out of one, but at $10 each in a junk yard was not a problem. In my 66 Cuda with a 170 slant, my new 9 1/2 edge converter worked better then my old 8 inch TCI. There was a big difference in technology between the two. Made almost 20 years apart. Stall speed (foot brake stall) was about the same, but the new 9 1/2 inch converter would launch harder, and MPH better than the 8 inch.
PS: Just a FYI about stall speed, and engine torque. 9 1/2 inch converter behind a 170 cid slant six, stall was about 3200 rpm, behind a 225 cid engine (everything else the same) stall was about 4,000 rpm (foot brake stall).

Yup. Stall is a function of engine torque at the point of stall only. How much torque or HP above that point is irrelevent to the stall.
A jet boats max attainable RPM is where the HP curve crosses the impellers power absorption curve. Same as the torque convertor.
I have had many jet boats since I was 24.

If a torque converter stall is the same as "A jet boats max attainable RPM is where the HP curve crosses the impellers power absorption curve." Wouldn't be the engines hp at stall that matters ?

Thanks for the answer :)
Hp is torque at RPM.
100%
HP is a derivative number of torque. We typically refer to HP as torque at lower RPM levels.
Not saying you but is probably why most are confused what is Hp and torque.
It is irrelevent which name you give it, it is the same deal.
Definitely don't agree with that
Using nitrous with a jet properly is tricky. If the engine peak HP matches the impeller now, and you add nitrous, the pump will now spin to a higher RPM, but if the peak RPM is now over the engines peak HP, the engine is losing power over the peak and the extra nitrous is wasted.
Jets typically gain one MPH per added 20 HP.
We add more nitrous until the added nitrous doesn't add the desired MPH. Then we either back off the nitrous or go to a larger diameter impeller to absorb all of the extra power to keep the max RPM at or just below the engines HP peak.

Thanks that was interesting

Thanks for the information on FTI. I'll consider them next time.
When I was looking for a converter last year I tried the usual big name shops. No one got back to me.
Someone here mentioned Edge Racing Converters. Called and spoke directly with Andre. He built me a custom 3200 stall converter and it is awesome in my street 5.9/904/3.55 B body. Great price and warranty.

I have dealt with FTI a couple of times now... 100% happy and they give great support on the phone (mainly talking to them when i sent mine in to get the stall bumped up to 3800) but good people.
