Just some info to pass along
Since 2001, Ford has lost- Bill Elliott to Dodge, Rusty Wallace to Dodge, Ryan Newman to Dodge, Jeremy Mayfield to Dodge, Jeff Burton to Chevrolet, Kurt Busch to Dodge, Ricky Rudd to retirement, Dale Jarrett to Toyota, Elliott Sadler to Dodge, Mark Martin to Chevrolet

I first met Mark Martin at our local Drag stip about 25 year's ago.
He has a ford dealer ship 35 mile's away at Baitsville Ar.He has allway's reprasented Arkansas very well. A good guy,No crybabby here.
I can not understand wy he made this move to chebby.

Must have been $$$.$$$.$$

Mark Martin is semi retired. He is just running a partial season with MB motor sports a rookie is running most of the races in the 01. Roush didn't give him that kind of deal.

Mayfields been driving the recliner since about mid season last year after his departure from Evernham.

What do you guys think about Toyota goin cup racing this season?
Personally i don't like it i think NASCAR has lost sight of the racing aspect and now it's more about the money and the drivers ego's.

I agree...its all about money these days. ...and what about all the "cookie-cutter" tracks? I say bring back tracks like North Wilkes....and give Darlington and Martinsville their second dates back.

I hear Junior is building a "short" track somewhere in the south. Maybe that will shine a light on the "history" of the sport, and what we're missing.

Sure hope they eventually build the track in Washington State....a lot closer for me to go to watch a race.

Rumor has it that MB (now Ginn) will switch to Ford after this season. Don't know if it's true, but wouldn't surprise me.

After more than 20 years of watching just about every lap of every race I stopped watching NASCAR back in 2004. I was sick of a lot of things including NASCAR doing nothing about Stewart wrecking someone out of every other race for the first half of that season. Much to my (and especially my wife's) amazement I do not miss it at all. If I had not stopped watching then I certainly would now. TOYOTA CAMRYS????? Now there is a car with racing heritage. So when are they signing a deal to put Kias out there? So much for "American" racing. At least no foreign manufacturer will ever be able to invade the top classes of the NHRA. You need a HEMI to compete there. The only thing that bothers me about that is that ALL of those funny cars and top fuel dragsters are MOPAR powered but many are passed off as Chevys, Fords, etc.

Well I hate to say the I disagree with some thinking here. I don't want to piss any one off but, it seams like Toyota is the only of them that is made in the USA. I may be mistaken but ain't the Chevy made in Canada? Ford in Mexico? And damn even our Dodge assembled in Canada? Having the toy in NASCAR is not taking away from the sprit of the sport. I think it started when they allowed a modified 4 door car to run as a stock car. Back in the ol' days of NASCAR, auto makers had to offer them on the show room floor. just my .10 worth here.
Jeff

I disagree and agree with you.

Putting a factory in the U.S. does not make Toyotas American cars and assembling American parts in Mexico or Canada because American unions make it impossible to turn a profit does not make Chevys, Fords, or Dodge foreign cars.

It should be like the old days. Either you make a production V8 RWD car that is the basic platform for a successful race car or you stay out. They should be "Stock Cars" again.

There was a NHRA Toyota Camry Funny Car the year before last.

Powered by a MOPAR-based HEMI. There was not a single Toyota part on the car. Except the decal.

Hate to say this but I have been to a NOPI show (sorry) and there is a guy trying to get a twin (or quad) turbo 4 cylinder (might me a 6 cylinder) in the Top Fuel class. Sorry for the guessing but I was over at the bikini contest alot more.

I agree with you guys, it should be like the old days. I wasnt even thought of back then but I love how they did it back then. Now the cars almost look the same, got to run restrictor plates, limited on cubic inches, Hell in my opinion Nascar might as well build the cars all the same and give them to the drivers any more. But, if any of you have heard of UTI or NTI, I am going to NTI, Nascar Technical Insitute. Actually just to learn about aerodynamics and the engines and hopefully grab one.

I should start another thread for this. But here I go. How do you guys feel about supporting a non-Christian car company? Would you buy a car from a muslem car company? This is what happens when you buy from non - American car companies. How is it that these import brands can build assembly plants here & the Americans can't? I don't think they have to play by the same rule book ie - pensions, health care, & unions! If & when a toyota wins a Nascar race, will the driver thank budda for his win? I bet he does if theres a dollar to be made. Whats next, osama bin laden as a car owner? He would only need one quality for the France family & thats cash! I'm sick & tired of our American Icons & Traditions being sold out to make a buck. Nascar ratings have been falling over the last two years. My opinion, BORING & PREDICTABLE! I do think the new car of tomorrow will make the racing better. 1-spec chassis (every thing in the same location, no matter what brand ) - the rear wing will be issued at every race. Its still not racing what they sale, but it might come down to who makes the most horse power. The Dodges have never lacked HP, they just can't seem to turn. As far as toyota goes, no American racing heritage, no oem push rod v-8s, no performace image! All they have is money & so called Christians willing to sell out. Kinda like making a deal with the devil, ain't it. Sorry for the rant, but I feel better.

Mikedevore you said it! I have never been a big fan for Nascar but I do admit, it is an American sport that we proudly sing the national anthem (spelling) and say God Bless after wards. I am not a preacher but when someone says something about God and it involves a race you will see me stand up in no time due to the fact of people living their dreams as a racer and knowing they could die they should be blessed. I could rant and rave and fight all day long on Nascar and the stupidity but I choose not to but I know where you are coming from.

yea after 18 years of being nascar faithful they lost me wish everybody would turn on em no fans no sport couple years it will be called the toyotacup they took the truckseires over i don't care where there made there still yota's still got jap writing on the labels look at the money they make off us but forbid our cars in there country that hurts the usa bad i know chevy merged with toyota thats why they got in i know dodge merged with germany u don't see volkswagon wanting in i still love dodge4ever

The day they say I cannot drive my old classic on the road becouse of air pollution,
will be the day nascar will here from me, and I would bet all uf us here at fabo too.
That it is time to shut Nascar down.
Well that is a little in the future

But for now I do enjoy most of the racer's in what ever car they are driving,
But I did like it better when plymouth and ford where competeing back in the 60's and 70's
And then when dodge came back, It just got better for me.
And I will say ,That mark Martin did and is making us proud here in Arkansas of the way he conducted's himself and drive's a good race.

And we all know that dodge came back Just to show them a thing or to again

I am not a big Nascar fan but I do watch sometimes.I was watching a show on TV a few months back and they were talking about AMERICAN MADE VEHICLES! Seems that approx 85% of the parts to assembly AMERICAN MADE CARS are FORIEGN MADE! Thats correct they said 85%! I honestly try to buy AMERICAN whenever possible! Sometimes you just have to give in because of the $$$! In an above post a few people mentioned Nascar and that it is all about the $$$! Well hasn't it always been about the $$$,isn't that what FREE ENTERPRISE is about is the $$$! A lot of people fix up old cars to sell for $$$,we wrok for the $$$ to support our Families! It is about the $$$ now and always has been! That is why America has grown to where it is today is because of the $$$. It was about the $$ yesterday,It is about the $$$ Today and It will be about the $$$ Tomorrow!

You are right. It is just like claiming to be Christian while trying to justify voting for a baby-butchering Democrat (or one of the more rare baby-butchering Republicans). If you support the grave sin you participate in it and you will burn just like those who are more directly involved.

Americans are building cars for less. Why else would toyota, honda, nissan, hyandi building assembly plants here. CHEAP WAGES - NO PENSIONS - NO UNIONS -NO HEALTHCARE! We have a major trade balance problem with these import car makers. I'm sure there are some tax credits thrown in. Where would they be if the playing field was level? It is about the $$$, the only difference is when the $$$ go back to that country, they go to a few chosen people. In the USA the $$$ go to the masses & they seem to be getting less & less.
