Ok this is the flex plate that was on my 340 when I got the car it has had a tab welded on it and weight added to the inside of the crank I know that the 340 is a internal bal motor and thats what threw me off is they added metal (quite a bit) to the crank and the flex plate The guy I bought the car from said his buddie that owns a machine shop and knew his mopars built it they did some stuff to the block to blocked some passages that my other two do not have my ? is the flex plate is starting to crack were they welded it and I am a little nerves to just throw a new one on since I do not know if they balanced the crank for the flex plate or what sorry to ramble on here is some pics the last pic sucks I tried to take one of the crack if it is balanced to the rotating asemabley do you thank I could clean it up and get the tig after it and be fine

Sorry I don't know why hell the tab would be welded on.But I quit using those stock flex plates along time ago.To be honest they are junk invest your money into a TCI flex plate. It will be the best $79.95 you have ever spent.

Maybe they(PO),put an external(360)crank in it?On the cheap?I,ve seen worse! They must have balanced it with that weight on it?

Ron, I'm looking for a good mopar machine shop around the KC area. Can you ask your buddy which one did the work on your engine? Then I could stay far away from them! That looks pretty rigged to me.

I do not know who built the motor it came in the car when I bought it ten years ago I paid half for my 14th birthday  got the whole car for 900 with newer 340 in it and dad drove it home ran pretty good and ran the hell out of it all through high school but I had no ideal what they were trying to do either on it so I figured I would pick you all's brains thanks for the offer on the flex plate but if the stock ones are junk I will buy a tci I want it to be done right and send it in and have it rebalanced

We have used built right engines in north kc for years and they do good work they are expensive but you get what you pay for I have the number if you want it
my dad has had them build several big cube motors for the mud drags and never had one let go yet
