Can someone please post a pic of a newly installed door window seal installed on a 73 duster. I just bought a new set from softseal and they dont look like the one I took off. The one I took off is somewhat flat with no groove for the top of the window and the new one has a groove. Thanks

I just parted a 72 that had seals with the groove, however the 73 I have had the seals with no groove. I suppose I should check the ones I have sitting in the bag. I think its just one of those things, slight changes from year to year.

I would assume that the groove kind would seal better but time will tell.

The no groove kind will seal better, especially is door has shifted. The glass would tend to miss the groove when rolling up and crush a place in the seal too
I have a spot on my 67 where the stainless channel is showing now because inner side of that groove is crushed.

Do they make the no groove seal for a 73? I dont think so. This is the problem the seal with the groove doesnt fit right.

I think the companys that a repoppin these thing dont know the diff between the years

Have you tried Steele Rubber? They list a different part # for the '73+ roof rail weatherstripping compared to the '72 & earlier on the Dart Sports. I bought my roof rail weatherstripping from them since the '73+ 2 dr hardtop weatherstripping is different from the '72 & pre. Fits just like the old one....

We had the same problem with the seals on my son's '74 Dart Sport.
The "grooved" style would not install properly. In the upper corner that makes a 90 deg. angle at the top of the quarter window support, the rubber seal would not fit tight up in the channel. That 90 deg. corner on the seal looks like a picture frame mitered at 45 deg., and the ridges and grooves on the top and back surface do not align properly.

Not only that, think about this... I don't think the glass is intended to slip inside the groove. If you roll the window up with the door closed, and the glass slides up into the groove, what happens when you open the door - the glass would pop out of the groove. Now, what happens if you close the door again - the glass can't pop back into the groove. I think the glass is supposed to rest on the outside surface of the seal, so what is the purpose of the groove?

We eventually gave up on seating the seal properly in the channel and put the old seals back on the car (luckily, they were still in decent condition). We aren't going to have such luck with the '74 Gold Duster we are now working on - the seals are shot. Which ones are you saying are those sold that do not have the molded grooves?

Steele Rubber has a decent website that shows the part number depending on what model car you have. Mine is for '73+ 2 door hardtop and I think the one for a duster will be similar but shorter since it doesn't have the the quarter window to seal against.

The groove seal does NOT work properly in a 73. I called Steele today and they claim they have the right non-grooved seal.

I got the strips from Steeles today and they are great. Much better than soffseal, and the others. These actually fit

Hey JJ! What did the cost and do you have there web site handy?

Glad to see you found the right ones...
dude that so sucks for me, I bought mine from laysons like 6 months ago....still in the wrapper. time to fight the man.
