I need a single Hastings piston ring. It's part #54109. The whole set is 2M139030.

Does anyone know who sells individual rings? I haven't had any luck searching around.

You may find a single ring set, but I've never seen a single ring sold.

Which ring are you looking for?

Yep. Even better.
Cracks me up. Only a Mopar fan would be looking for such a thing when you can buy a whole set for 30 friggin bucks.
I've had a set of 4.030 moly speed pros on the shelf since '08... i forgot about them. After that its been 4.070 ,4.040,etc.. no .030 builds in a while. lol.. but i think ill use them in the budget 408 revamp project.

Have you tried a want ad here?

OP, FWIW, you can buy single ring sets in that size from Rock Auto in the Clevite-Mahle line, and the Sealed power line, but the only .030 over size they list is for a chrome top ring. If it is the 2nd ring, or oil rings or expander that you need, those look to be the same materials as the Hastings ring set, regardless of the top ring face. So that is why I ask which ring you need.

The Hastings catalog cross-references to the Mahle-Clevite (old Perfect Circle) PN 40456CP; put an 'S' in front of that for a single set. Hastings crosses to an E215K for Sealed Power (SpeedPro); put a 'W' in front of that for a single set. But, if it is the top ring that you need, then the Clevite-Mahle and Sealed Power top rings may now be a thinner (less wide) steel ring; the Hastings top ring is moly faced cast iron I do believe. You'd just have to buy one and see unless you can find that material info for sure. If the ring tension is the same, I am not sure how much difference any of that top ring material would make.

One set would make more sense than one ring, for sure. I found the part number for the top ring on Hastings site, so I thought I could buy it somewhere.

I paid about $30 bucks for the set, but I hardly ever build a motor, and would rather buy what I need instead of another set. But, if I have to buy a set, no big deal for sure.

It's the top ring. Moly coated. I'll probably just buy another full set.

Thanks for your detailed response. I appreciate the help.

Is that the one that got filed at an angle?
Moly rings are usually second rings. Tops are usually cast
Straighten it up a lil and stick it in your smallest hole. If it measures .028 or less and this is a streeter, I would use it. Try to put it in a front hole, and by the time the engine is up to temp, the engine might never notice the difference.
When I file-fit rings, I take all the material off the same side. That way the uncut side is the reference.Don't forget to debur all the faces.

moly rings second and top cast Aj?
Anyone else remember trying to get TRW "double Moly" rings to work

The top is moly.
After discussing ring gap on my other thread about oil ring gap, I am going to square it up a bit and see what I have. I don't think it's that big, considering that bigger is better than smaller.
I did file from one side to retain a reference, and stone the edges.
Thanks all!

I cant get past --"put it in ur smallest bore ", all my bores have been pretty much spot on , or I wouldn`t put it together !

The factory has A, B, C, D size holes.... pro engine builders may go thru several sets of pistons and bearings before they settle on a particular size.

My old friend Jim who worked in the engine shop at Roush said that's why they buy pallets of bearings and pistons in bulk.

I`m thinkin that the factories have way better machine work now than they did 50 yrs. ago. But they probly still do the sizing thing on screw ups , unbeknown to the public .

Ok how am I gonna wriggle outta this one?Help me out here. It wasn't a fat-fingered fubar, or a self-typing phone, or the angle of the dangle. Plasma Moly to the top.
Wyrmrider was first to catch it, thanks for being kind.
