I'm rebuilding a 1970 Dart Swinger and swapping the 225 with a 340. I'm learning as I go. I plan to keep the Torqueflite 904. I have the short block assembled and will be pulling the 225 here shortly. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Advice? Yup! get her running and enjoy the hell out of her. I don't care how ugly as long as she's safe. Then work on her as you get things together. The average project is between 5 and 7 years and costs over 10K if you do most all of the work. Do you want to take that long and spend that much to get there from here.

Your 340 will not bolt to the slant 6 trans, so you better plan on locating a V8-904.

V8 904's are fairly easy to find, with the slip-yoke setup. I don't know anything about a 518 installation.
