I have a problem with #1 and #3 not firing correctly. To hear the car run you really cant tell and there is no backfiring or bogging down. Its a 360 with stock everything except cam and Mildon gear drive. I did install a Comp 268H cam. The gear drive was installed by the previous owner. It has new plugs, wires and cap. All the other plugs are nice and golden brown, but #1 and #3 are BLACK? Any suggestions.

Check the fiering order. See if #1 and 3 are crossed. If that ant it try installing new plugs in to the #1 and #3 holes. Some times you just get a bad plug.

This will be the 2nd set of plugs. I will check the wires again to make sure they are not crossed, but I think they are correct.

Run a compression test. It's possible you have a head gasket leaking or blown between the cylinders. If both cylinders are equally low that's the problem.

Do you get any kind of smoke?
What ever you do if, it is a blown head gasket, DON'T run it anymore after finding out or you could burn up/cause lil cracks between the chambers.

No smoke. I will run a compression test just to make sure. I will let you know my findings.

make sure to have #1 plug out while testing #3 as you will also wanna have # 3 out while testing #1.

After this say you don't find a problem with the compression then pull the cover and see if the cam lobes are wasted by watching for valve lift thats less then the rest.
