I'm doing a nut and bolt resto on an early A-body Dart. How many more of you are doing a nut and rotissery resto out there? Would it be enough of interest to have a special forum for those questions on FABO?, the best A-body site in the world! I'm checking this out to how big the interest is.

It would be great to share info, helping out each other with info and possibly parts too. Let us here you are working on and your thought's about this idea!

I've noticed that! But there isn't any nut and bolt resto treads! The restorations on all the cars there are absolutely great but not the orginal way. At least, not so many of them!

Honestly that sounds like something you'd fine on the E-body forum. I don't think there would be anywhere near enough to consider creating that forum on here. From my observation, of all of the mopar people, the A-body guys/gals aren't ones to do a full factory resto.
 

I don't think it is worth devoting an entire section to when there is a perfectly good section for restorations in general!

If you want to find a "nut and bolt" resto as you say....you might want to use the search tool and look up rotisserie or something along those lines and it will give you more options of threads with "full on restos".

No matter how you look at it....there is alot of guys (including myself) that have alot of time invested into the restoration of there A-bodies and rotisserie or not....you would be surprised at just how much time/detail/effort goes into some of these guys cars......don't let the fact that the car hasnt been flipped upside down fool you lol.

Not trying to rub you the wrong way by snuffing out your idea......I am just saying that I don't think the demand would be high enough to even bother with it when we already have a devoted resto thread.
 
I guess it would depend upon how you use this forum. I am nearing the assembly stage of a full resto. When I log in, I hit the "new post" button because I need help with everything! I skim the thread titles and if anything catches my eye I open it up.
Also, if you have a question - say an electrical question. If you posted in a resto forum you might have limited folks reading/responding. When you post the same question in the electrical forum, you probably have the experts reading & helping you.

Im involved in a full blown nut and bolt resto and it makes me SICK every time i think about what i"ve done!!! I took a fair running car that looked good and torn it down on friday and sent it to the sand blaster on monday!! My beloved dart has sat on a body cart ever since.What the F%%K was i thinking!!!!:banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead: sorry rant over!! As for your thread,I"ll read whatevers on F.A.B.O.
 
78kitcar, tearing it down was a big part! Keep on the little parts and it will get done! Start a resto page and ask everybody to stay on your butt til it's done!
 
I guess to tear it apart is easy. To make a car out of it takes some time , money and energy!

Well, I better start to go to members restoration instead. Hopefully we can share info on those kind of restos also.

But to all that makes a restoration, no matter what kind of resto YOUR DOING A GREAT JOB!
 
Nut and bolt resto? You mean full blown back to concourse or just a rotisserie cooked "restification?" Or do you just mean anything put on the rotisserie? For me it's a matter of terminology.

Follow Jamison's '72 Dustpan thread. Right now, not a lot going on. Lawn mowing weather just kicked in and the kid needs to get back to earning some mowing money for the summer to put into the car, but when it gets to the point, I already have the rotisserie and trust me, for the car to be a car again, it'll need it. If it didn't need it, it wouldn't be going on.

And not every car needs it. Trust me, if it comes to doing a resto that needs to be turned versus one that doesn't, I'll take the one where the car stays on it's sneakers.
 
At 28 years old, I have learned a lesson. It is far better to have a fairly decent car that is a rolling project than it is to have completely tore down car that you are only looking at instead of driving.

I like having a driver project that I can take some components apart on and then putting it back together; new and improved. Then I drive it...
Call it "piece at a time resto". I build on and fix what I can until the time and money allows.

I want to build a 360 for '76 Scamp, but the 318 is just fine for now.
This gives me time to gather more parts and in the meantime, I can still enjoy the car.

It's a bit more fun than looking at my '70 Charger and '71 Demon that are in a million pieces...someday..along with my '74 road runner and '71 twister..
 
My car has always been far from a concours restoration so it's not important to me personally.
