Dr Diff 1/2" spring relocation kit on a 68 Dart convertible. Both outer offset shackles hit the rear shackle mount. The car hasn't been driven but it has been trailered to and from the body shop like this. The rear end perch to perch dimension is confirmed at 42". Center of leaf spring to center of leaf spring at the very back also measures 42". Any thoughts? I can loosen up the 2 bolts on the upper mounts and see if they will go inward a little. Other then that, my only thought is to put a thick spacer between the outer shackle and the bushing...to space the shackle away from the upper mount. This would require longer bolts.

trim the mounts where they hit the bracket? with weight on the springs, I believe the shackles should be at a 45 degree angle. will they hit the frame at that point? brackets upside down or switched side-to-side? it's been so long and I don't have any here to look at to see if this is a concern.

They look upside down

They are upside down. Now I feel stupid. I thought they were symmetrical but they aren't. I guess sometimes you just need another set of eyes on a problem. Thanks...

Also, while it may not affect your current issue, the correct center to center spring perch measurement is 43" center to center and not 42". If you look, the leaf spring eye is moved over and actually off center itself. That could be a result of the perches not quite being in the right place.

Stock 8-3/4 housing perch to perch is 43" correct? Dr Diff's website says 42" for the spring offset kit...

Is the perch upside down?

Another thought...

Is the normal weight in the car (seats, gas tank, engine, trans etc.)

This is more or less accurate

The springs sit very flat under normal load so the shackle is almost in its most rearward position.

And additional load would cause the shackle to move slightly forward.

Similarly less load will cause a slight rearward movement before forward.

No, I just installed the offset shackles upside down like an idiot. I thought they were symmetrical but one end is longer before the angle starts. I just have to flip them around. The springs I have on the car sit way too high right now anyway. I need to put the front spring eye in the upper location. I'll tackle both jobs at the same time. Thanks for the responses.

What springs did you use? And would you please show pictures of before and after side view from both hole locations on the spring hanger?
Thanks

It's got the "0" arch MP oval track springs on it. I assumed "0" arch would mean the springs would be basically flat and would end up lower then stock. Not the case I guess. The back of the spring still has an arch to it and it's sitting a lot higher than I want.(probably stock height) I'm not sure if the shackle interference is causing a height difference or not. Even with the front spring eye in the upper hole, I think it's going to be a couple inches too high....but we'll see. I don't have seats in it yet but I can't imagine the seats weigh enough to make a huge change in height.

Can you please post pictures as is now? I’m interested in those springs too

Here is how it is right now. From the center of the axle to the quarter panel lip is about 10-1/2".

That is great. Thanks for showing that. The car looks to be very nice btw. Would you be able to show the whole side view of the car? It really helps to add perspective for me.
Thanks in advance! And to confirm these are the springs p4529414?

What size tire

@4mulas what look are you going for?

My dart with 58 year old 6 leaf HD original springs with 100 lbs of junk in the trunk sits 8.75 center to wheel lip. The wheel lip is visually maybe 1 inch above the rim edge. (Mathematically it's 1.75")

No idea what the tire size is. The wheels are 15x5.5 or 6. They are just on the car so I can roll it around. I had to put washers between the wheel and rotor so they would clear the calipers. I don't even have the rotors on the front yet. The 14" wheels are just bolted to the hub. I don't have any wheels that will clear the big brakes yet.

Reason I asked is the tire sidewall height and the rim dia will make a visual different look to a cars stance. based on your photo and my photo yours is significantly higher in the rear than mine but with the larger dia rim visually it looks close (my photo does not represent it well)

Just curious so does this allow a dart to accept a seven and a half inch wheel under the quarter panel instead of a 7-in wheel ?
