Been using Napa Gold 1085 filter for years. My dyno/machinist Jedi said they're great.

Stop today, pick up 2. 1 for now, 1 for mid season. Look what I found! The white one came with a tag that says made by Mann-Hummel, Germany. good old black 1085 now made in friggin China!

1 has to be better. Any guesses?

Thought it would be a slam dunk choice, but surprisingly the China filter has a more substantial rubber seal and more oil holes (less restriction?).
Wonder how they compare inside.

All part of the so called global economy. I think that if they want to make their products over seas it should only be to support the demand there and not bring it back to the states, even wix has some of its filters over seas.

i'd run the black china one and not think twice about it.

if they're good enough for napa to put their name on 'em, they're good enough for me.

caveat: i work fleet, and we use a TON of napa filters. some are china, some are not. all of our oil analysis comes back within parameters no matter the filters-- with few exceptions/outliers.

Once upon a time, NAPA oil filters were Wix. No longer true? Or Wix not that good anymore either?

Companies are not concerned about quality, it's about how fast and cheap they can manufacture their products and get it out the door. It's sad that it's only the bottom line that counts these days, people don't take pride in their work as they once did. We have a ice box that I know it over 40 years old and it keeps things extremely cold.

I still use K N hp 2004 MINI FILTERS easy to put on and take off and in 10 years never had a problem

Thats what I thought. But I'm running the black one regardless. Like someone said above. "more rubber and more oil holes". Kinda surprised the black one I took off today, also made in China. Always cut them apart and the filter material seems top notch as always.

Wix is owned by Mann Hummel. Mann Hummel makes filters for NAPA because of the long standing contract with Wix. So, technically...NAPA filters are still Wix. I run NAPA gold filters on all of our drivers, but on my old Mopars, I run Ford Motorcraft FL1A's if they fit in the space. A gray scotchbrite pad will remove the logo real quick, but leave the white paint...lol.

I used to run napa golds.. and bosch .. then movied to mobil 1s.

In my regular commuter cars i just use the stp filters.

I put a magent in the pans of my mopar stuff and not fret too much over the filter brand.
