are there any required or recommended oiling system mods needed for a 440/500 stroker. will be street strip and running a solid ft cam. only done one other bb and that was a fairly mild 383. cheers

cool, thanks Andy. have acquired most parts to get build under way. not got oil pump or mains bearings yet, any recommendations there. You can run a big block as is without any mods for a street/strip type of engine. Only thing you really need to do is closely examine the oiling system to make sure it is free of flash or casting flaws. Run a reamer thru the passages to the main gallery, make sure the inlet opening on the oil pump is nice and clean, stuff like that. You can restrict the oil to the driver side lifter gallery if you want. Restricting that down to an 1/8th inch or so will give you a little bit of extra safety if a pushrod bends.

That makes sense. Thanks AndyThere are only a couple of mods that might be necessary that I know of. One is to bush the lifter bores for high lift cams and/or to reduce oil flow thru the engine. The other one is to plug off the rocker oiling when using pushrod oiling
what do you call high lift Andy. i have brodix b1 bs heads with 1.6 ratio rockers and was looking at mid 600's for lift. There are only a couple of mods that might be necessary that I know of.
