Hey gang!!
I have a chance to pick up a '69 Dart 2dr ht,318 auto,7.25 rear for the cost of towing it to my place....and I have to decide on it today. The body is pretty sad,but it runs, trans was rebuilt 2 years ago, and apparently needs a new rear end (clunk). I'm kinda undecided about this thing. I really dont need any more projects around my place, but I think I could part it out. Restoring it would be a big job! What do you guys think?

No rare parts,like disc brakes,etc.

Thx in advance.

If you feel the body isn't worth saving then you have to look at it as a parts car, or get it and sell it complete on some place like Ebay. If you are going to part it out get a piece of paper and write down what parts are good enough to sell and a guess as what you could get for them. I can tell you that the drivetrain probably won't bring much if it is as bad as the body you describe. the big problem with parting out a car is taking off parts and shipping them, especially large parts. Then you have to deal some real idiots off of Ebay and such. Probably getting it and selling it whole might be your best bet. Clean and quick, and you don't have a junker in your yard for a long time. JMO, Mike

If you do get it....
I would say..forget e-bay for selling parts. Victoria Buy & Sale is great for local area.

Any car free and just pay for hauling is good unless you have to pay to have it towed from ValiantMike's house then it might get expensive.

Chuck, thats for sure. I'm at the bottom of the world down here.
65Val, another direction could be to grab a 7 1/4 rear, a basic tuneup, and sell it as a driver/rolling restoration car. People will give away 7 1/4s. I have one I left at my mother-in-laws in Jersey you can have, complete drum to drum. I'm sure one of our Fabo members could hook you up with one. This would most likely attract more potential buyers than saying car must be towed. Hey, maybe you'll get it going and decide you want another project yourself. Get us some pics. Mike

I would say if you have to think about it, then you really don't need it.

Thanks guys. I'm reading all the responses and will have a decision shortly. I don't really want another project in the yard, and I'm not sure I can get too much (parts for me or dollars) out of parting the car(it's pretty rusty and dented up). I wish I had taken some pics last weekend when I looked at the car in person. I'll ask my 18 year old son if he knows of anyone who'd want a project.Thats a good idea.

I appreciate y'all taking the time to respond.

Just wondering, my son has a tow truck and lives in Central Saanich so if it was convenient his rates are good.

Cool, Rob. Any idea how much he'd charge to tow it from near Cedar Hill and Hillside to near Glanford and McKenzie (about 6.5 k's)?

I think I'm gonna pass on it ,guys. If anyone wants the info, I'll get it to you, but apparently it has to be gone today.

Thanks gang.

P.S. I think MrMopar has it bang on.

Some times it better to pass on a car. If there's nothing you needed off the car then why bother. to much trouble parting them out sometimes. I say pass on it

Trim and interior parts are worth more than you think, price a set of taillights lateley?

Flyboy01, you're right about that. Around 6 months ago I bought a 1975 Duster for $300 to get the disc brakes and some other parts for my Valiant. After I took what I wanted I thought why not pull some of the lighter smaller parts off and sell them on Ebay. I ended up getting more than I paid for car and I could have made twice that but I only had it at my place for a week and it was a real eyesore after a couple days. I didn't even pull any body parts, glass, interior, etc..(big mistake) I couldn't beleive it but everything I listed sold and at good prices. Mike
