Opinions on Value of This '71 Duster?

that thing still won't be worth 5100.. unless he lowers the price big time it will just sit there and rust into the ground. be worth nothing then.

Wow it's in pretty bad shape as well as the price lol
rarety and scarce-ness? what a person spends on a given car? has nothing to do with value or what someone might pay. prices in general on C=list?? ha yea right!!!!!
yep a car will generally part out for more than it will sell for a project. just REALITY.
look u p cars for sale on FBBO, higher end cars, look to sell how many are selling for those " pie in the sky " prices?????
jst saying, look this car over good and have a real knowledge of what it takes to "restore it to any degree, , and what it will sell for if you have or want to sell it?????"

Well, viewed the car. Driver's quarter certainly needs work. Needs full trunk pan, complete paint, carpet set, seat upholstery, annoying exhaust leak, almost nothing electrical works, wipers, turn signals, 4 ways, gauges, courtesy light, radio, etc. Said he drove it weekly but the tags expired over a year ago, which he wasn't aware of. But it's still a real FC7, H code 4 speed that could be brought back to some measure of respectability. I offered him $8,000 cash on the spot. Which I felt was very generous. He turned it down.

Real 4 speed cars seem to be more difficult to find, the car was repairable and I also compared the car's overall condition with '70 - '72 Dusters that have actually sold on eBay. I think that's a fair meter of value compared to anyone's asking price. And, like I said, I thought my offer was very generous.

The 70-71 years definitely have stronger values and it's more than I would ever offer for something like that but it's the OP's money so hopefully the responses were taken well..... I have probably spent that on WAWA Coffee in the last 5 years lol....
I personally think there are better deals overall out there but it all comes down to timing, patience, and position. It is those 3 things that ultimately get you what you want and especially when it comes to older iron....

just curious here, are you looking to sell the car in a few years?
ive personally never cared much for number matching factory correct still running original air in the tires
depending on what you are looking for, you might be able to find a nice clone with all the work done more recently for less money
or, if you want to do the work, here is one that needs about the same (just no shiny paint to hide it) and is a much better starting price

like others said, we voice our opinions here as asked, not tryng to do anything but be of help. I think the OP appreciated our comments a nd opinions. it is true the 70-2 cars will bring more and also more a s a four speed car.BUT true, not everyone wants to bag gears! BUT I do and I know what the parts costs for one! ha
two types of us moparites. the real car and the made car. I have had many of both over the years, I like to drive them. make a "real" car too nice and you very well might not ever drive it and ENJOY it. then there are those that love the " act of making it a ll perfect". I make these comments for those that have not been there, done it.
also,those of older guys that have bought a lot of cars /parts over the years, learn to read people, not just what thy say (lies), but their body language. if someone tells me they drive it everyday and the tags are a year dead in the water, I read that as a probable LIE! ha...?????.
good luck on the hunt, you will find a good project or a nice driver/restored ar worth your hard earned money.
