Here is what I own.

1970 Dodge Dart Swinger 2dr Hardtop Slant 6 - Very Straight rust free car that I have owned since 1989. I purchased this car in 1989 with 32,000 miles on it, painted it blue, put rallies, bucket seats and a bumble bee stripe on it and drove all through high school and college. Currently it has 106,000 miles, its in black primer and my plans have always been to take it back to the original blue with blue interior and a V8.

Recently I bought this as a plan to use as many parts as I could.

1971 Dodge Dart Swinger 2dr Hardtop, 230hp 318, 8 3/4 rear, originally Plum Crazy Purple, black interior, black vinyl roof car. The odometer shows 61,000 miles and judging from the lack of wear on the pedals, seats, arm rests and such, I dont think its 161,000. I would also believe it to be a numbers matching, but I have not researched that yet. The car is really rusty, and I do not believe it is a candidate for a restoration, but all the trim inside and out is in great shape, plus it has the rear end and motor combo that I have wanted.

My question is, does it make sense for me to go to the trouble of using my car as a doner body for that car. Is that acceptable in the Mopar community? I have never planed to do a perfect restoration on my car and don't really want to. I am more interested in just building a good looking driver with the freedom to resto-mod as I wish.

I have only decent mechanical skills and I do not have a vast knowledge of Mopars, so having a complete car to rob from for all its desirable pieces was my driving force to pick this car up. Now, after doing a little research I am finding that this car may be fairly rare. Am I committing a sin by cannibalizing this car?

Let me know some thoughts.

That purple car looks really rough as far as rust goes. If it were mine it would be parts only.

Reading the discription of your first Dart I think you would be money ahead by leaps and bounds just using the purple car for parts for the other car.

Nothing unusually rare about the purple car except the color! On the plus side, it does have a lot of nice parts and an 8 3/4" rear to boot!! Use it for parts, you'll be way further ahead!! Geof

Agree

Parts car defiantly, it's pretty rusty, so if you do use it for parts for your car and you might want to sell one of those backup lens keep me in mind!!!!!!

Since you have a nice one and the other has the parts you want and seems a lot too far gone, then part it. Sound like the 70 has treated you good. I'd feel compelled to keep it and fix it up the way you want.

Parts car unfortunately. It would be a cool car to bring back because of the interior and exterior colors. But it looks REALLY rusty.

If you do part it out. I'm interested in the grill if it in good shape.

Thanks for all the responses, that is what I was hoping to hear. Once I get to tearing it down I should have a lot of good parts left to post in the classified section.

That purple car is rotted and is better off as a donor car. If it was a 340 car then the decision would be harder, but put the time and effort into restoring the blue Dart.
