Anybody got any killer appetizers me and my wife can fix to take to some of the upcoming Christmas parties we'll be going to? Kinda tired of all the same old chip and dip stuff. Let's have 'em if ya got 'em.

pigs in a blanket made with lil sausages and croisant rolls with cheese and a dab of mustard is always good the trick to these are make it your own spice up the cheese or mustard and right before they are done wipe them down with some olive oil and sprinkle parmesan and brown just a tad longer

Thinly sliced ham, Garlic/herb cream cheese and asparagus.

Blanch the asparagus(boil it for a short time), coat ham slices with cream cheese, put 2-3 spears of asparagus in and roll up.

Cut into bite size pieces, halves or leave whole.

Really tasty, and crisp. =P~

Lil sausages wrapped with bacon with brown sugar sprinkled on top. Bake em till the bacon is done.

Bacon wrapped water chestnuts cooked in soya sauce.

Was thinking of these only instead of soy sauce.......half or third slice of lean bacon wrapped around a water chestnut and held w/toothpick and baked in bath of: one bottle ketchup or chili sauce, a jar of apricot preserves, some brown sugar, and some teri' or soy sauce.....experiment for personal taste.

One pound liverwurst, two 8 oz crean cheese, 1/2 finely chopped onion, 2 -3 tsp dill weed, and worchestershire sauce ( eh around 1-2 Tbls ). Blend all at room temp' and fridge overnight to meld flavors. Good on any type crackers.

Enjoy the party and Happy Holidays.

Not an app' but makes agreat impression for dessert and can be done as mini type tarts.

Ye Olde Two Crust Lemon Pie
( from a memory proven to be faulty )

Da Stuff What's In It:
Pastry for large or deep dish pie
1 stick butter (softened)
1 2/3 C sugar
3 Tbls flour
4 large eggs ( reserve 1 Tbls white )
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 C + 2 Tbls water
2+ tsp grated lemon rind
juice and just the meat of 2 to 2 1/2 large lemons ( peel lemons removing all white skin then pry out meat from ribs and chop fine then squeeze the hell outa the ribcage to get all the juice )
Cream butter and sugar, add flour and salt, add eggs ( one at a time or throw em all in at once, pie tastes the same, beat eggs beforehand if they have been naughty ), add water, toss in lemon juice with meat + grated rind. Taste to see if you think it needs just a little more lemon juice or sugar.
Pour in bottom crust ( works better if bottom crust is in pie pan when this takes place ), mixture will be VERY thin, that's OK, trust me. Gently place & trim top crust and do magic finger twirling around edges. Brush top with reserved egg white and sprinkle with just the barest hint of nutmeg then sprinkle with a bunch of cin/sugar. Cut vents.
Bake at 375 degrees for 40 minutes. Pie looks better if a sheet of foil is placed 2" above top crust for first 15-20 minutes then removed.
Remove from oven before attempting to eat.

I tried this and it's great:

Cranberry Salsa Dip

Ingredients: (1) 12 oz bag of fresh cranberries
1/4 cup minced green onion
2 T minced jalapeno pepper
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup minced cilantro leaves
2 T grated fresh Ginger
2 T lemon juice
2 8-oz packages cream cheese (can use low-fat)

Preparation: Rinse, drain and finely chop cranberries
Can use a food processor but not too mushy
Combine all ingredients except the cream cheese
in a bowl, cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours
Spread cream cheese on a serving plate and cover
With the cranberry mixture. Serve with crackers
of your choice. (Ritz works great)

Couple gallons of Southern Comfort. You'll be the life of the party. Simple and effective.

Man, these are sounding good so far,.....makin' me hungry too! Time to start experimenting. Thanks guys!

Crowd pleaser and been around since day one, super easy:

Sausage balls:

1 lb hot sausage
10 oz package sharp cheddar, grated
3 cups bisquik

Preheat oven to 350 and cover some baking sheets with foil for easy cleanup and a little cooking spray.

In a bowl, squish the ingredients together with your hands til well mixed, roll into to 1" balls, place on baking sheets and bake for 12-15 minutes...they should be just barely starting to brown...don't overbake them, they won't be as good.

Put some toothpicks nearby or just pick up with fingers. Good with a honey-mustard sauce...just mix together a little honey and mustard with some mayo.

a variation on the earlier sausage balls recipe, these are freakin killer, I made them for a STEELER party and they disappered really fast, make a double recipe, they ARE fantastic

Ingredients

  • 1 pkg. Jimmy Dean® Hot Pork Sausage Roll
  • ¾ cup all-purpose baking mix
  • 2 cups (8 ounces) shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • ¼ cup finely chopped onion
  • ¼ cup seeded, finely chopped fresh jalapeño peppers
  • 1 large clove garlic, minced
  • ½ teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)

Directions

1. Preheat oven to 375°F. Mix all ingredients in large bowl just until blended. Shape into 36 (1-inch) balls.
2. Place in 2 lightly greased baking pans.
3. Bake 12-14 minutes or until done (160°F).
4. Serve with toothpicks, if desired.
Cook’s Tips Stove-Top Variation: Do not preheat oven. Mix ingredients and shape into balls as directed. Cook half the sausage balls in large skillet over medium heat 15-17 minutes or until done (160°F), turning frequently. Remove from skillet; place in single layer in shallow pan to keep warm. Repeat with remaining sausage balls. Serve with toothpicks, if desired.
Make Ahead: Sausage balls can be shaped ahead of time and frozen. When ready to serve, heat oven to 375°F. Place frozen balls on lightly greased baking sheet. Bake 16-18 minutes or until done (160°F).
Note: It is easiest to mix the sausage mixture using your hands. Mix just until the dry ingredients are incorporated.
Yield:

18 servings (2 balls each)

I'm salivating just thinking of them

This is very easy and very tasty.

Use Olive Oil vinegarette not italian dressing. The flavors won't be right.

five minutes to make and extremely tasty.

Buffalo Chicken dip
8oz cream cheese
10 oz chopped chicken
4oz. blue chese
4 oz. blue chese dressing
4 oz franks hot sauce.

heat and combine and serve with any type of cracker.

One of my faves is a roasted green chili with cream cheese, wrapped in a slice of hard salami. Quick and tasty.
