Ospho is what the professional body guy that I took classes at the local college I went to a few years back. It can be primed, painted, rubber coated directly over. Just be careful not to apply it somewhere it can drip over the concrete floor or driveway as it will stain it. Like was said before, it' affordable and available at most hardware stores.

Picked up some $60 gallon bondo from the auto body supplier in town last week or so. Yeah, it's expensive up front but it is pinhole free when dried, sands like butter smooth with ease. It eliminates the need for a glazing putty, grips extremely tight, can by used over primer without compromising it's hold.

I just picked up and used some 3m Platinum Plus filler. About $60. Man that's nice stuff, Blows Rage gold away. No need for polyester glaze. What did you use?

Same stuff. They said they had body filler that went up to twice that in price, but at some point it' not cost effective.

I think he meant using lead (the soft metal you shouldn't eat) to fill pin holes and pits. It's a lost art but maybe you could?

Yessir Dan, I'm real familiar with lead boxy work sir. I used to suck on fishing weights all the time when I was a child. I won't be doing that however. I ordered the trunk pieces today and will begin my welding technique refinement study next week. I want it fixed right. I may be old, and I am, but I only want to do this once! Thanks Bud!

It's funny you bring this up Penstarpurist, I bought a gallon of pricey 3M stuff yesterday too mybe it's the same product. If not it doesn't matter. .023 wire and Argon mix will take care of it.

Thank you all for the help!

I will read about the proper application of Ospho and Rust Mort!

Yeah, lol I was sticker shocked by the other fillers. It's a place called industrial finishes, very high quality materials for auto body repair paint supplies. They sell only professional grade stuff, but they have prices to match. It cost me $500 just to buy paint, catalyst and hardner to paint our restoration project tractor. And it was a gallon. Sprayed out so clean and like glass finish. Looks great years later, it's the only place I will buy automotive grade paint and supplies.

That's what I bought!

FOOD FOR THOUGHT EVERYBODY!

Yes this **** is expensive, it takes a whole lot of time to fix these old cars. I'm old, my back hurts from reaching in with a grinder/DA/drill/body file/wrench; my old lady calls Dottie the other woman. And I coulda bought a GTX with a 440/4 spd last weekend at Barret Jackson for 32k.

MY POINT -we do this **** for FUN!

HAVE A GREAT EVENING GUYS!

Lol, I agree with welding in the pinholes or cutting out the bad and welding in replacement metal. I use the body filler to smooth out the little imperfections left behind, never to fill actual holes in the sheet metal, no matter how good the filler is. I've got lots of donor cars and sheet metal. As I'm an old man as well, and my back hurts already without hunching over anything for hours. Haha. Have a great evening as well.

BTW - I forgot to mention that I consider myself far more blessed than I deserve to be able to do this without starving!

:poke:.

Razor blade. Hurt initially. Very effective. Love your attitude brother. Keep rollin.

I received my parts from AMD and they fit perfect once you hold the L parts on the L side and so on so forth. They seem to fit perfect too. Today I will straighten up the shop and share install starting tomorrow if you're interested.
