Pontiac Grand Prix with Barracuda Back Glass?

They also made a Monte Carlo. The cars are called Aero Coupes.

Back when when I worked at a Ford dealers used car dept. , Had 1 particular used car manager that would buy those GM aerocoupes @ auction. So Thursday afternoon a motor carrier would unload and mgr. would say "just put that to the side", changed to, "you know the deal with that". By the following Tuesday this semi rare GM is down the road with the GM dealers used cars. He made about enough off that sale to cover the transport on the other 4 to 6. He did the same a couple times with a Honda too. Slick. Edit, just remembered how much my wife liked and wanted that black aero carlo. Edit again, just remembered how all the Earnhardt, etc.., fans gave me flack for backing Rusty Wallace.

I always thought they were fugly, but they were pretty slippery on the track. The chicks liked um, too.....Aero Coupe or not.

Yeah, those are the very reason I stopped watching NAPCAR in the '80's. The T-birds were handing the GM G-bodies their asses on the track, with the aero of a butter tray with the lid firmly attached, the GM crybabies whined & stomped & cried until NAPCAR made the Fords run a different wicker on the tail. Then they came out with the above Poncho & the Monte SS Aero Coupe.
Oddly, NAPCAR drug their feet for a looong time removing the wicker requirement for the T-birds,.....I was in My late teens or 20(?) , and there was My introduction to a long line of ridiculous NAPCAR politics.....I was out. Now & then I'd watch Daytona, or do the Memorial Day Trifecta of the F1 GP of Monaco, Indy 500, & CocaCola 600.....but that's about it. A couple of road course ones incl. the Brickyard 400, REAL racing,......

They were rare even back when they were new. Most were probably bought by collectors as the serious performance g-body guys were buying the turbo Buicks.

I've seen some beaters, kinda like that one, maybe half were purchased thought of as a future 'collectible'. At only a '25-per-state' production, they had no choice but to be rare for sure.

"160hp 305"

Chevy sure made waves with their pathetic little sbc's during that time.

GM whined about everything. It's all Bill Frances and Wally Parks could do was whine. They had hard ons for Chevy so bad that they very obviously swayed the deck to Chevy. Look it up, it becomes evident if you look in the right places.

I was not aware of this NASCAR edition Pontiac.

A buddy of mine bought on new and even then, he knew they were limited edition. I talked with him about 6 months ago and I asked him if he still had the car and he said no and for the exact same reason you can see in the video, rust around the rear window.

I remember the bubble backs ...
While I appreciate their rarity, I thought they were ugly, just my opinion. Still do ... LOL

Always wanted a Pontiac version..... There were quite a few around metro-Detroit.
