65 dart gt ragtop stroker 402

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is my beast !
You guys aren't going to believe me but but I never had a valve cover off this sb magnum crate engine , it's never had a issue in 10 years . Nothing has ever been done to the engine... ALL bone stock from mopar .

here are a few details >>>>>>>>>>> has a mopar crate magnum 402 stroker .. I bought the 402 for raggie 10 years ago and Never Ever had had a problem with it. never had the intake off or valve covers. over the past years I tweaked it to the max.. I know exactly what she wants.. Played around with carbs , timing distibutors etc. I had it at the track 4 years ago ran a 11.34 on motor.
has 727 , shift kit rv manual vb. turbo action 3500 stall converter, 3:91 gears , fenderwell headman hustler headers 1 7/8" into 3" exhaust and thru dynomax muffs. rails are tied . drum brakes .linelock, headers are wrapped . glass hood and front bumper. fuel cell with 1/2' fuel line up to carb , electric fuel pump .
chromoly roll bar.8pt. and 2 years ago install all electric fuel pump , water pump and radiator fan . march crank pulley . I restored the body and paint myself 10 years ago . The 850 holley carb worked the best out of all the sizes I went thru. curved the mopar dist. msd 6al , moroso electric water pump.. tauras electric fan.
caltracs , 9 ways rear shocks with caltrac shocks up front ,,, love those front shocks . mono leaf .
hooiser 11.5 x 15 dot drag slicks , skinnies up front 15" . I've been beating on this mopar for 8 years .

I don't care what people say about crate motors ,, but this engine must be a freak ! does not use any oil ,, and does not smoke like a rebuild.

Had the dart to the track recently and it ran 11.0's .. the 11.34 time was several years ago and now with more tweaking like all the electrical components added and all the mechanical parts taken off it doesn't have any drag on the engine anymore .. freed up a bunch of hp.

the dart weighs 3200#

Here are a couple pics of the beast ..

Here's one of my favorites.

72 demon--367c.i.--stock stroke factory cast crank--eagle rods--flat top pistons .04 out of hole--10.75 to 1--587 cast iron heads,[nicely prepped]--victor 340 intake--Racer brown STX-21 flat tappet cam--995cfm carb-shop carb--727 trans w/tranz-act brake-dana 60 w/4.56 gears--13x31 slicks--3100lbs--was run on 50% 110 race gas and 50% 93 oct. pump gas. Motor lasted for years and aprox. 1400 passes before the crankshaft split into 3 pieces.

Car went as quick as 10.35 at 127.xx in mine shaft air and as slow as 10.60s in nasty air with that 367.

A very similar stock stroke 367 c.i. engine with dome pistons, [12 to 1] on same mixed gas only went a tenth quicker, 10.25 at 129.99.

Same car with a 587 cast iron headed 13 to 1 418, [360 stroker], and a Racer Brown STX-22 cam went 9.68 at 136.xx, but on straight 110 race gas.

I don't know how to post a link but I like the stage III small block on Hughes Engines website. Makes 588hp@6500, 528ft;lbs.@5000 on their dyno. I know some guys don't particularly like them but you gotta be impressed with the power.

very happy with the performance of my magnum 402 crate. still runs strong as the day I purchased it .:happy1::D

a true 340. the old MPperformance 318-3 truck crank- stock polished rods w/pin oiling mod - ross 12-1 lightened pistons 510 grams- hughes solid cam - chapman w2 econo heads -victor w2 intake w/ hvh 2" spacer and a pro systems 870 carb. heddman 1-7/8 husler headers through 3-1/2 kooks exhaust with xpipe and borla muffs at rear axle. 4spd and 489 gears motor was together for 7 years and i drove on the street all the time. i started racing the 10.00 class and at the 3rd race it spun a bearing and that was that. this combo was a few years ago. i sold the w2 top end and still have the short block .

So does this thing have a small procharger or something? Nitrous?

What elevation is this at?

Read this and check back in.

It's sometime hard to fathom just how impressive these cars are.

They're basically allowed headers, cam and intake in Super Stock.
Stock allows just the cam and headers.
The rest is the skill (and daring) of the owner/builder.

Matt's my hero: all 273 cubic inches.
