Post your 13 sec combos

I would post the time slip from Fremont Drag Strip (in 1976, but the fire in Paradise Ca took it, along with all my pics and flash drives.

The first one: 1968 Dart GTS 340, Automatic (old school shift kit, stock converter)
Short block....Pure stock 1968 340 with 70k miles (not rebuilt)
Heads .......Pure stock 2.02s with a performance 3 angle valve job, milled .020.
Exhaust.....Pure stock cast iron manifolds, including mufflers and the under the bumper tips
Camshaft.....Pure stock, never out of the car
Carburetor....Carter AVS (from a 440, I cheated). Smaller metering rods, larger pump squirter. A few more mods (that was fun!)
Intake.....Stock 1968 cast iron
Distributor....Stock single point. Lighter springs, shorter advance
Rear.......3:91 Sure Grip
Tires ......G70-14 bias plies
13.75 @ 99.something (there was VHT on the starting line that night). 13.80s the rest of the time (no slicks, ever)

I sometimes used this GTS as a tow car for my '69 Swinger 340

Man, I just loved that cool, dense Bay Area air!

The second one in the 13s.

1973 Duster 340, Automatic (Cheap shift kit plate, no other mods)
Factory black, black buckets + console, A/C, factory cruise from an Aspen, factory steel roll-back sunroof (black vinyl, just like the full vinyl top), fold down rear seat (Convertriple?)

Short block....Pure stock 1973 (8.5 compression, 80k original miles)
Heads .......Pure stock 1.94s with a performance 3 angle valve job, milled .020.
Camshaft.....Pure stock, never out of the car
Carburetor....Original Carter TQ, Smaller metering rods, larger pump short, + a few more mods. Still knocked down 20mpg on a 1200 miler (at 55....sigh)
Intake.....Stock 1973 cast iron. Crossover blocked
Exhaust....1969 Dart 340 cast iron. Stock mufflers and chrome tips
Distributor....Stock single point. Lighter springs, shorter advance
Rear.......3:21(?) open
Tires ......G60-14 Radial T/As

13.92 @ 100..something . 15.0s in pure stock trim

I sometimes used this Duster as a tow car for my '69 Swinger 340

70 Barracuda Gran Coupe 'vert. Untouched short block. Heads only had a valve lap and springs installed. Hughes Whiplash cam and springs. Cheap roller chain. Stock valvetrain. Headman headers. Performer RPM. 750 DP. Stock electronic ignition. 2000 convertor. Stock 727 with light valve body mod. 4.11 gear. Et Streets approx. 28x10.5. Best ET with 3000 ft DA(1350 elevation). 13.46 at 99 mph.

It is amazing how quick some of you guys have run on fairly stock combos. Back in 1979, I had a 1978 Plymouth Volare Super Coupe with the E58 Police Pursuit 360. Stock T-quad, Hooker headers,
and street radials. I think the gear was maybe a 3.21, auto trans. Best I ever ran was a 16.02, at Gainsville Raceway in Florida.

I mean, can I post my '80 D150 long bed here in the 13 second section ???? Technically, our track was only running 1/8 mile the day I took it, so I cannot post an actual "13.xx" slip. BUT, I did run 8.27 @ 82.5 mph in the 1/8, so that would be something like a 13.10 in the 1/4 ?? ...

1980 D150 Long Bed
  • 198,*** miles 5.9 from a 2000 Ram, bottom end untouched
  • reman heads (gave 300 for the pair loaded)
  • Oregon Re-grind cam (218/224 @ 050)
  • Hughes Spring Kit
  • Speedmaster intake w/750 DP
  • Hedman headers
  • Hughes "over the counter" converter
  • untouched 727
  • 4.30 gears w/28" drag radials

Totally awesome but honestly I'm more concerned how your health is right now which this is a good indication!..

Guess I can "officially" post the truck in here.... for now. Next time out I'll be posting in the 12 second combo thread :)
1980 Dodge D150 long bed. 360, 727, 4.3 gear.
Went 13.08, 1.82 60 ft, 8.23 1/8
I was "ok" with that being it's first 1/4 mile pass.
Details on build are in post 80.
