Post Your 67-69 Valiant

-
Great looking car.
I had a couple of these - just great solid little cars - first one got ***-ended, second one I drove at least 400k miles until the frames rusted out from under it. Blacked out the chrome and painted it red with a white top. Black Recarro Buckets and a blacked out interior. I put a hot 318 and wagon gears in mine for Hwy speed and mileage - had headers with scavenger pipes that were incredibly loud and tuneful. Took out the rear seat and built a massive tuned speaker box in rear - 25 years ago - still have speakers but the old Valiant just wore out. Rust in peace. Still have the Grill hanging in my shop - kinda like a skull.
Have Fun and Enjoy!

ps - Put a sway bar under it!

Had to add a good story; After getting the first car running (69V) I took it out on a backroad drive and ended up coming home through the river bottom road - me being stupified (beerified). Me in my little S/6 Yellow Valiant ends up driving down this terribly rutted mud road - freshly wallered by a bunch of 4x4's. My little narrow track slant 6 Plymouth Valiant goes wallering through all these massive ruts, pond size puddles, and never ending mud - for over 3/4 of a mile - just humming along with no real probs - I finally approach the bridge and the bluff at the end of the bottom road and see 10-15 Big-Bad *** 4x4 Pickups all muddied up and all the Big-Bad *** 4x4 Redneck dickheads standing around drinking beer bragging - AND HERE I COME DRIVING BY IN MY BIG BAD *** VALIANT!!!

I just waved!

It was Grrrrrraat!

Later!

I just found this one on WI CL.http://chicago.craigslist.org/wcl/cto/4730312751.html

Never been on track. This is not a street car and does not have a title, I had to put something in the Craigslist box...so I put "parts only" because there was not a no title option.
Was certified by NHRA inspector after chassis upgrade. Some rust from sitting. I have over $5,000 in chassis improvements such as Qa1 adjustable shocks, custom installed wheelie bars etc. not counting over 20k that was invested in the car itself. The fiberglass hood can work but needs re-aligned. I bought fenders, grille, etc. -hood to make a pro-mod style front section, I would sell to buyer of the car for a reasonable price if you want them and they are still available.
The car includes everything in photos, custom fiberglass trunk lid, Dana Rear, wheels& tires etc. This car has a ladder bar setup.
I have this car priced to sell and I will gladly roll it out for any potential buyer. I can answer a few questions from what I know off hand, or I can look up some specifics. I will gladly give location and sale information should you decide to commit to an agreed time to look at the car.
The sheet metal, windows (no rear glass) and body are good to fair for a do it yourself racer, but the chassis was professionally done. It still needs some fasteners torqued here and there, so a good pre-track inspection is necessary. The fuel system needs installed and the electrical system still needs wired in.
This car did not have a spec of rust on it 3 years ago, but since it has been out of climate control and in a barn for a couple years rust has surfaced. Other than that it has ALWAYS been stored inside a building unless being transported. The welds were not painted where the funny car style cage was put in, that is where this project stopped. I also was going to open up the wheel wells a bit further at the outer rear fenders before paint. The car is in primer and has surface rust on the drivers door from road salt while being transported on an open trailer and there are some scuffs on the windshield. Between the photos and my description this is full disclosure, what you see in the photos is exactly what you will see when you get here. $4800 firm.
