When my son Aaron and I pulled the 360 out of his grandparent's '80s Dodge van to swap into his '74 Duster, we took the power steering pump with it. He recently bought a power steering hose and found that the fitting in the back of the Saginaw pump will not tighten completely.

Tech support at the hose manufacturer says the fitting in the '80s pump is metric and won't work with the hose Aaron bought. He said it should have a brass fitting that seals off to the flared end on the hose. This pump has a fitting that requires an O-ring. He also said it is easy to change out the fitting in the pump - it is simply threaded into the pump housing.

Does this sound right to you who know?
Does anyone have an earlier model Saginaw pump that went kaput, and would you be willing to sell the brass fitting in the back to me?

Thanks,
Jerry

Do you not have the original pump to rob the fitting from.
That fitting does just screw in the back. Its one of the few pieces holding the resivoir on the pump. Hope this helps

Nope, the slant six and everything attached to it were not in the car when we bought it.
