Ok I know GM Transmission etc etc lol.

I am going to run a 1.76 glide with 3800 stall.

My shifts should be 6200 with a 29 inch tall tire.

What do you guys think 4.56 or 4.10 I just dont want to over run motor on top end 4.10 would shift outa first at 74 and 456 would do 66

Thank for input in advance

Forgot to add max rpm with 4.10 will be at around 130 and 4.56 will be about 117

What do you have for a motor? quarter mile or eight mile?

powerslides like alot of converter....3800 stall is pretty tight..

is this a full race car or street/strip...

For comparison my Dart is running a 1.76 Glide with a 3500 stall (i can get 3800 on the Tbrake though) and im running 4.10's in the 1/4 and 4.86 in the 1/8 with a 26 inch tire .Im slightly out of the powerband of my motor in both cases.I cross the stripe at about 6200-6300 in either setup and my 408's cam is done at about 5800.It runs 11.40's in the 1/4 and 7.20's in the 1/8.Best 60' with the 4.10's is 1.60 (but usually get a 1.61-1.63) and best 60' with 4.86 is 1.54 (but usually get 1.55-1.58).This is with me leaving at about 3700 with either gear on the Tbrake. My Dart weighs about 2950 with me in it, and needs more tire and more convertor IMO .Hope this helps you ...

If your car isn't under 3000 lbs the PG won't help it. You'd be better off with a low gear 904. You have to be right on with the converter when using a PG because that is what it will launch on rather than gear multiplication.

Setting up the car for a PG takes a bit more thought.
- Has your engine been dyno'd? Do you know the hp/tq peaks?

My .02:
- Spec the rear gear around what RPM you want to go through the end of the 1/4 mile at, 'ish.

- Spec the converter to launch the car and keep the rpm in the power band.

- Don't be shy, get a good efficient 8" converter that flashes hard and is spec'd to your combo. (it won't be cheap (600-1000), but it will be worth it) A proper converter is darn near the best thing you can do to lower ET.

Among the many good resources for PG advice is Lenny at Ultimate converters.

He has a Big Block so a 904 wont work.
Topbrent is correct you will need 4.30 or a 4.56 gear but also what tire will you run you must dyno your motor to have all the specs and car specs also for the converter shop UCC (Lenny) or PTC (Kenny) will get you hooked up so your converter will lock up.
