Didn't this /6 put out more power than the tricked out flat head Ford they did?

Yes, some earlier posts. People weren't even ticked off by the "leaning tower of not much power" snide comment by the scrawny one. Overall, they did a decent job. Looks like they could have gotten more power had they kept increasing spark timing, but left it "good enough". The engine did sound fantastic on the dyno and I am sure it thrilled the owner for his cruising needs.

An even bigger bang could come from better fuel distribution, which is an issue in all carbureted straight sixes. MPFI would be best, but currently a "roll your own" solution. There are rare after-market intake manifolds with dual carburetors, but I don't know how well they work in practice. People have realized tremendous power from turbocharging (also roll-your-own). I wonder if that also helps with fuel distribution (higher density and swirl).
