That’s a good thing. Wastegated turbos are junk. They’re better suited to lowish hp oe stuff. You actually want a stand alone wastegate. It lets you set the priority and choose the sizing. Most internally gated turbos have tiny gates.

From that link we can see that the compressor is 42/73 and the turbine 59.9/70
That is a lot of exhaust flow for not a lot of compressor flow. Very common on diesel turbos. Has a very narrow map (usable rpm range) and would probably be just fine on a slant6 in the 250hp range as long as you don’t expect to spin it to the end of the world.
How do I put one on this? Get a complete wastegate exhaust turbine housing? Seems simple enough unless there's another way.

No you weld a bung on a price of tubing and clamp a wastegate on that.

Yes. But buy em from Viren at VS racing. His prices are hands down the best. You can get stuff pretty cheap on eBay and Amazon but you gotta be careful of very cheap Chinese junk. It’ll cost you an engine.

No one uses gated turbos anymore. So there’s really no need to differentiate it. We just call em wastegates.

That should be a sweet turbo for 225! It won’t be a HP monster but will definitely get you in the game. What kind of PSI are you shooting for?
I don't really know. The engine is frankensteined together with mostly used pieces, so I don't want to destroy it. These aren't like a 318 or 360 where you an find one easily. Lots of them have been scrapped and lost, so I wanna play it safe. I was thinking maybe 8 maybe 10.

8-10 is like 60-75% increase!! That’s a big step.
I believe the stock slant six can handle it, don't you?
