Hey Rusty,
It won't, it'll push out into the cam-side of the block & smoke it, same way SB's do, & Dulcich's did......which is a good bad-thing, at least it shouldn't fill & lock a slug..You’d be surprised. If it’s on there and torqued down you might as well use it. When it eats coolant, pull the head and have a cometic made for it.
What kind of pressures did you blow them at Mat? And I can’t remember are you intercooled?I've had two blown slant six head gaskets - one leaked coolant into the cylinders and one leaked into the oil.
Bringin this back to the top, as I'm gettin ready to get the J pipe made and mock the turbo up. So is this the actual size waste gate you'd recommend?Yes. But buy em from Viren at VS racing. His prices are hands down the best. You can get stuff pretty cheap on eBay and Amazon but you gotta be careful of very cheap Chinese junk. It’ll cost you an engine.
VSR 44mm Wastegate Gen2
My plan there is not to skimp. I think I may going to go with...wait for the shock...an MSD boost retard box.Next we can get in to the ignition system. Oh it’s fun spending your money.

A 44 is probably too big for ~300hp slant but it leaves room to grow and there is no downside really. You can have less than perfect placement of the gate and still have good control. Also I’m not sure VS has a smaller gate than that Ive never looked.Bringin this back to the top, as I'm gettin ready to get the J pipe made and mock the turbo up. I run the MSD 6BTM on my boat. Works fantastic. But I’d recommend the digital programmable box MSD 6AL-2. It’s more compact, has WAY more features and gives you ability to create a 3D map in MSDs software. It’s a better solution for a street car.My plan there is not to skimp. Agree, the BTM is tedious to fine tune, easier with lower boost#'s..but tough when the boost gets rowdy..I run the MSD 6BTM on my boat. Works fantastic.
