Project Midnight Swinger

Flip top. Cardboard template to locate the holes. I used three factory holes in the fender, and 1 factory hole from the flip top. Drilled two holes in the cap and three in the adapter. I like it.

I thought about doing this on the Sport but I already purchased a brand new expensive repop of the correct style. Kicking myself lol

I found where the red fern grows

New grill in, new turn signal lenses installed. Super special Dart Lite hood acquired from @halfafish installed terribly, but I’m by myself and I ain’t no body man! It’s gonna come off soon for some work and paint anyway.

Without those hood springs installed, it doesn’t feel very Dart Lite to me!

Hey, if I didn't mention it, use a gentle hand when closing that hood. If you manhandle it to slam it closed I've been told you can kink one at the hinges. I also recall (?) there are lighter springs for it that reduce that possibility. YMMV of course...

Green and silver, quite the color combo!

I removed the springs. I’m going to run a prop rod and add a rubber spacer/cushion on the pop up latch spring to keep it from punching through the aluminum.

Steering column rebuilt and temporarily assembled(needs paint and lower bearing)so I can steer this bad boy around. Tuff wheel looks good, not sure if I like how much closer it is with the crush can installed.

Loaded up, nice and late true to the project name. Headed to a 2 car garage, can’t wait to finish this thing once the move is over.

Finally have my own garage. Everything is still too crazy after the move to work on the Swinger, but I have everything for the 4 speed swap and will start making progress on that shortly.

What lower bearing are you going with for the steering column? I got one off Amazon that works great.

yeah, you definately don't want to try pulling one of them on your own. they're heavy for two so not a lay on your back and slip it out job for sure :(
neil.
I have done it that way every time until now hahaha I’m 34 and I’d like to think I’m a little smarter than 20 yr old me, but I’m probably just not as strong as 20 year old me. I’m excited to give it a go.
