Rare 1971 Demons.

Man I like that! The black and white stripe is the way to go. Now to decide on white top with white interior or black top with black interior

Rare 1971 Demons.

^^^Click me.

@66Dartdriver....really?

I go hunting for ages to find that pic (which is clearly the best one in the thread), and you goose me because you don't have a sense of humor??

72bluNblu, thanks for pointing out that upper chrome trim. Think I'll have to track some down for my car!

Exactly!!! I like the '71

But it DOES have the pretty darn rare upper door and quarter window trim as well as the drip rail trim. Works very well on a black car. Which is why I bought some for mine. :D

This option seems to have been standard on the swiss-made 72 Demons, but they were only 96....

I'm not sure if anybody makes or sells side molding similar to the original. My 1970 Duster 340 is a stripe delete car and the molding was removed prior to my brother purchasing it. I wrestle with the idea of ringing it back to 100% original or applying the black side stripes.

Mmmm TX9. Exactly what I'm doing on my "demon". Black with flat black stripes. I may even do my Challenger opposite, satin black paint with gloss T/A stripes. And its an original Petty Blue car too. Currently B5 from a previous owner, but most of that has peeled off anyway.

both of those cars are gonna look AWESOME!!! Especially the challenger if you do it like that!!

To resurrect an old thread, I'm also tired of all the millions of '71 Demons with hood scoops too, especially the cars at shows with "original" hood scoops.

According to the factory accessories report for '71 Demons, no slant 6 Demons got hood scoops, and only 38.8% (3097) Demon 340's got hood scoops. In addition, the hood scoops were only available with the V21 black out hood treatment.

For reference, I got this info from the '71 Demon Factory Accessories Report located on the Demon registry in this website, and also from the '71 Dealership Data Book on the Hamtranck Historical website.

Right No J-54 on the fender tag your car did not have the sport hood + the (organsol) spelling …hood paint extended to the upper door frames

The day Dad brought home my 71 Mr Norms GSS Demon.

If i were to order one new today, Id spec white with green interior, steel wheels and dog dish caps. Then 340 with GSS 6 pack set up.

Who cares?

Some people like the hood scoops, some don't. If you don't like them, keep your flat hood. Mopar had some of the best hood treatments for muscle cars, and I'm gonna put them on everything I own because I like them. Numbers matching purist a-holes be damned.

Because for every hood that gets trashed, then the next owner has to undo the mess that the previous owner thought was cool.

Well the next owner of my ‘74 Duster is gonna have to do a lot more than fix the hood, they’re gonna have to find an entire ‘74 Duster front clip and tail panel to replace the ‘71 Demon parts!

Seriously though, purists suck. It’s my car, if I like hood scoops then I’m going to run them. If the next owner doesn’t like them, they can learn how to weld. Not my problem.

Just like I’m going to drive the crap out of it. If the next owner wants a low mileage car to park in their garage they can buy someone else’s car. I like driving my car, I’m gonna drive it.

I own 4 1972 Demon, 3 of them were slant 6 cars, 1 a 318 car. Everyone one of them have/will have a dual snorkel hood scoop! Also I ditched all of there original engines, LOL. I wouldn't imagine there would be to many people that would ever want to remove a 340, hood scoops, bucket seats, console, 8 3/4 rear, etc. and go back to a slant 6, bench seat, 7 1/4 rear, etc.

C'mon now boys....don't throw rocks at hoods scoops. They are just plain ole COOL!!! Whether like this one...

Or these...

(and yes, those are original to the car!!)

Im glad the PO added the stripes and hood treatment to my 71 plain jane slant six car! Im going to add painted rallye mirrors, and If I can find a set of scoops for a decent price I’ll add them on too.

who sells the vinyl side molding, I want to resist dents on a 1970, and I like the sleeper look
I don't know when they switched from aluminum side trim with an inserted vinyl strip to the stick on stuff, but it was after 1970. Here's my 70 Swinger with original side trim which installs with pressed in attachment pieces in about 20 holes down the side of the car on each side.

Variety is the spice of life and I like my flat hood Swinger the way it is, but wouldn't give these up either

If variety is the spice of life then why are you all jumping over each other to be just like each other? The company that makes the repro hood scoops is laughing all the way to the bank.

A quick one minute online search pops up 134 Demons, only 15 with flat hoods..... So ya, you guys sure are being different.... Bahahahahahahaaaaa

Oh so because you love a plain *** hood everyone else should? Jealous because yours didn't come with scoops??
Grow up lol

When scoops are done right they're awesome. I would put them on our barracuda but Ma Mopar made it perfect with hood inserts.
Oh and good luck with your RARE project

Here's my 2 cents. You know you're gonna get it. lol First, to say the 71 Demon is rare I think is ... I won't call it wrong, but let's say I think it's a mistake. Since Demons were only made two years, to me that makes them all rare to an extent. It ain't like they were made as long as the Darts or Valiants, so they are certainly rare in that aspect.

As for the scoop or no scoop argument, yall grow up! The scoops are badass. The flat hoods are badass. These are MOPARS. We're MOPAR GUYS. Like what you like and leave other people the hell alone.
