I bought a Quicksilver ratchet shifter, but noticed the new top plate is too big for the narrower console. Has anyone dealt with this?

I used a promatic 2 in my console. Cut out the factory shifter area and mounted the promatic 2 top plate to the top of the console plate. I'll upload a picture if I can find a good one.

I'm willing to bet the Quicksilver mechanism is too tall for the factory console, too.
As mentioned, the Promatic can be made to fit.

The quicksilver will fit, I used one. See the old thread "Aftermarket shifter in factory console"

I used a Quicksilver in my factory console works great. Let me know if you want a picture.

I don't know if you are able to use the factory gear indicator with and aftermarket shifter. Thats why I just went ahead and mounted the promatic 2 top plate onto the factory console so I can see what gear I'm in if I need.

Send the shifter back for a refund.

The factory shifter fits and works just fine.
They do. I thought I remember seeing a "Slap Stick" adapter parts to convert the standard shifter to Slap Stick.

Mine was done by a previous owner. Notice that the shift indicator has been moved to the passenger side to allow the shifter to be attached to the driver side of the hump. It sits at a good height and works well. Mine was originally a bench seat car & I suspect this was a lot easier than finding all the stock parts.
