Rear gear question

I have an 8.25" rear end, with 2:45/1 gears. I want to upgrade to 3:73 gears. Will the stock gear housing accept this or does it require modifications?

i believe that the 2.45 housing needs modification. hopefully someone that knows for sure will chime in..

yep. the 2.45 and i think 2.5x or 2.6x only use one carrier, the 2.76 and up use another

You need a new carrier to go to 3.73

If you had 2.71 or better then you would only need the gears and bearings.

Now you get to choose a carrier too
