Bought this 1970 Dodge Dart Swinger 340 4 speed October 15, 2022. The guy I had been trying to purchase the car from for the last few years had bought the car in an estate sale in 1986 and never registered the car. The car hasn't been on the road for 36 years. The car sat outside since he purchased it. The car sat under trees which hurt it but sat in a black top parking lot and is a factory undercoat car which helped it. I gutted the interior upon getting it home as the front bench wasn't correct and the carpets were damp and the trunk was holding water. I removed a body plug from the trunk and drained about 3 gallons of water. I hooked a battery up to the car and it did bump over so I know the motor isn't stuck. The car is complete minus the original carburetor, original intake, original rallye wheels, and original front bench seat. I did find the original thumb roller AM radio in the trunk but unsure if it will work as it was so wet in the trunk. The hood, deck lid, front fenders and quarters will need to be replaced but on a positive note the roof, doors, rockers, floors and trunk pan are all solid. I am excited to to get the car back on the road as this is my first A body. I have had multiple b bodies over the years and have been chasing a 1969 Barracuda fastback 340 4 speed for years which I have never been able to get them to sell when I found this car a couple years back which was difficult to get him to part with as well. I still am in contact with the owners of the Barracuda and hope to one day add it to my garage. If anyone has the parts I am in need of for this Dart please reach out to me. Thank you for any help and thank you for welcoming me to your group.

Super cool Dart!! The right powertrain option & good colors... Hard to understand buying it & neglecting it for all these years...

Amazing how solid it appears to be considering how it was stored..

Congrats, it looks like a good set of bones. I totally agree with the buying and neglecting sentiment. Second owner of my recent acquisition did the same, and it shows. For having the water standing in the trunk, it looks pretty good.

Yeah I when I was pulling the damp carpets I was expecting the worst but was pleasantly surprised how solid the car turned out to be. Here are some pics before I pressure washed it.

NICE, looks like a great solid start. Interesting fender tag with the big gap in the center. And the Y09 export code? AH, I see now it was built in Canada and exported to the US. BTW I grew up a few hours up 88 near Amsterdam.

I bought parts in Amsterdam before for a truck I was working on and ate at a pizzeria in the middle of town, can't remember the name of it now.

FE5? 340,4 speed? 1970? Way to get yourself a top tier Mopar, doesn’t look like a bad start, and definitely worth the rescue.

That's a nice car! One of the best colors with the vinyl top and 340 4-speed too

Amazing the floors and trunk are still solid. Factory 340 4 spd '70 Dart and red yeah that is a super awesome car. You can bet that car showed its tail lights to plenty of big block cars back in the day.

WElcome to FABO from NY! Is that a Rallye cluster I see in there? Love those. Looks like a great find!

Welcome to the site, the car looks to be in remarkable shape considering how it was stored.
Maybe start a build thread when you get going on it...

Looks like a good start, not much rust. Check the trunk extensions underneath sometimes rust hides there. easy enough to fix and the parts should be available.

Cool car.

fender tag is way out of whack alignment wise. Whoever punched that out had way too many drinks or doobies at lunchtime!

Welcome aboard. That looks like a very deserving car. It's not in near as bad a shape as you'd think it would be.
