Its race week everyone!!!!

Went out to cars and coffee this Saturday, came back and got the dart cleaned up, swapped plugs, and did a llonce over on things and got her loaded up.

Extremely excited to get down there to do some racing and meet some new people. If anyone wants to watch. That frdm+ is the live stream channel it will be on.

Back and recharged after Braggin Rights this past weekend. To say it didnt go as expected was an understatement.

Turned the car all the way down for index to make it more consistent and able to run a number consistently. We got the cruise done over at the speedway and came back to the track and put the radials back on. Ended up with a round 1 win in my very first index race. Got the car turned around quickly and got back in the lanes. Temps at the track were scorching and dying in my fire suit. Rd2 came up and as I was bumping into the 2nd beam the sweat rolling off my hand and momentum of the car caused my thimb to slip off the trans brake and we rolled through the beams early. Completely my fault for not having my gloves on.

Tested a lot leading up to this event and knew I had a hotrod capable of running in the Mild, Wild, and daily categories of the shootout. We missed Q1 because we were doing the index cruise at the speedway. After the index rd 2 loss we noticed something funky going on with the way the car was running. Looked liked a possible 02 sensor or fuel injector issue on one bank. Swapped 02 sensors and that wasnt the issue snd wr found one cylinder thay wasnt quite up to temp like the others and we checked plugs, wires and those were good and got the injector pulsing again after a trackside cleaning and pulsing. But it was short lived as it started doing jt again af t er the next fire up.

So we missed Q2 becuae of that. Got the injector swapped out saturday morning literally right before Q3 and got the car to the lanes. Car wasnt 100% but felt confident we could get a pass in that would get us into the daily group at least. Then hit fuel cut safety in the burnout and the computer shut us down on power and we made a slow pass thay was 2 seconds off what it should have run with the tune up I had in it and we missed the cutoff and thay wad the end of racing for us.

Can't thank my brother enough for coming out and trying to help me get this thing fixed during the event. He was there sweating his butt off with me all weekend with my nephew. Haven't had any issues through all the testing I was doing leading up to it, but it would decide to have em at the big race.

Time to get her right and get it back to testing for the next event.

not the best weekend for ya but you still got to go racing and that's all that matters. spending time with family is also a bonus

Well now that ive had some time to go over it more in depth and im not screaming in 96+ degree heat, ive measured the passenger side plug wires, shortest one is number 8 @67 ohms, next is number 6 at 163 ohms, number 4 is 1200-1400 ohms, number 2 is 240 ohms. So im going to measure driver side and if they all come in 250ohms or less ill be remaking number 4 and asking it for a drive. MSD says 50ohms per foot with a max in the 200s.

Fingers crossed thats all it is.

Most definitely frustrating at times.
Absolutely is.

Just got done checking driver side and that side had 3 wires with under 200 ohms and one that was a completely open, meaning broken wire inside somehow. So on 6-6.5 cylinders i was able to run a 9.7 at 6 psi of boost. Time to make some new wires and get back at it.

Granatelli sells solid core wires with zero (0) ohms resistance per foot that works with electronically controlled vehicles (https://www.jegs.com/i/Granatelli/467/28-1629-CBB/10002/-1). They have a ferrite core ring they place around the wire that squelches RFI/EMI emissions that normally scrambles electronic signals. I've used their wires in the past for electronically fuel injected applications, and even mimicked their process (patent expired) building my own wires. ()

Im gonna have to look into those. I just got a new set of msd wires to try snd make this race this weekend so we will see after that.

Back to work. Got a fuel injector cleaner for my shop so I cna do my own whenever I feel like and maybe make a little money on the side to help buy parts for the dart. Got some new msd wires I have to make tonight, and pulling the radials off tonight to go test on slicks tomorrow.

I also got this endless rotation steering wheel setup from tick performance so I can get rid of these dang wires dangling off the wheel thay get really annoying when driving on the street. Moving the turbo signals up to the top on the switch panel where there's already spots for as well. But I'll tackle the steering after the race tomorrow. Need to move the splined part back and weld it on the column for it to work.

Unfortunately this weekend got rained out but ill be testing on way or another next week. I have to.

Cats out of the Bag. I got picked to run on the TV show "The Callout" being filmed down at Rockingham Dragway June 13-14th with the rebooted Pinks all out TV show. Going to find out if I can out run some race cars with my street car, front half run what ya brung and hope you brought enough on a 28x10.5.

Also got rid of all them tangled wires finally and made street and race driving a lot easier. Tick performance made this kit and its a game changer in the car. Took some thinking because it was never meant to fit that column, but made it work.

If you'd like to watch us run on tv next week tune into PTTVLINKS.COM around 630pm eastern on Friday and see how far I can go. 16 cars, front half, run what ya brung and hope you brought enough. We will be doing flashlight or instant green.

Have to do some tnt tomorrow up at VMP and if need be out at Outerbanks dragway in Creswell, NC as well.
