Hey! Lay off my guy, he’s busy enough as it is! I been waitin first! LOL. Brian is one of the best on the west coast.
There is a guy that hangs out in a white van behind the 7-11 that can do it...
@70aarcuda Tony might know somebody. He's in that area.

It would be absolutely worth it!
I Have had Brian do probably 5 sets of heads for me....including a big repair job on a ported eddy head,,,,,,
Probably go for a ride down that way again ,,,,
Just stay away from Crackedback....cause he never buys lunch....lol

I would definitely go with Brian, well worth the drive.
Hell I drove to Phoenix for my boys soccer tournament and this is Way more important! Have another tournament in Indio, but it’s on the weekend so Brian will be closed and won’t be able to say Hi.

I'm in the same boat, crate engine not an option. I have a 66 Barracuda Formula S and my 273 is numbers matching and needs a rebuild. I am in SW CO. and don't know any mopar minded reliable engine builders here. I am willing to travel for the right builder.
There are three words to remember

Every shop has a reputation. Do a very close investigation into it.
New Accurate machines with a bad machinist... No

I hope you didn’t pay a premium for a pre-1968 Mopar that was numbers matching? Prior to 1968 the VIN was not stamped on the engine block nor the transmission. There is no way to prove the engine in your 66 Formula S is the original one. Best you could claim is it’s date code correct. In other words the date stamp on the block was shortly before the body was made.

Do the research on insane power in Henderson NV. Call the auto part stores in the Las Vegas area and see who they recommend for performance machine shop work. Don't take the word of someone you never met or know. Take care and have a great day Roger

Small block. I bought a Mopar performance 5.9 magnum short block, still sealed in it's crate from 1999. I'm a welder by trade, and haven't built an engine since 1997, but I would assume that it'd be a good idea to at least go thru it, and verify torque specs.The engine came with closed chambered heads, with 2.02 valves, and an FI intake. I just don't know what to buy to put on this for a good street car/ daily driver.SB or BB? Happy to talk if interested in a SB
Rocker assembly? Pushrods? Will the cam work with a fi-tech efi on street? If I was told every part to buy, I could probably build it just fine myself. But I'd rather have an experienced individual near me, at least guide me in the right direction. Thx!

Check out Cogswell Speed and Marine in Chula Vista, CA if you don't mind the drive over to San Diego. He puts together a lot of small blocks and is a good head porter. I know several guys with hot LA engines that used him and I just had a 318 built there with ported Speedmaster heads he did. It was in and out. He has a good friend at Crower (San Diego based) and another friend at Comp Cams that was formerly with Crower. He was able to get parts for my build during the pandemic when others were blaming Covid for parts shortages.
He races a small block Dart and has a badass small block Scamp he is building for the street. He is a small block Mopar guy.
