Farmer Green had missed the bend in the road and ended up in the river. He scrambled out of the car and sat on the roof, waiting for someone to rescue him. At last he heard a car stop. It was his neighbors, Mr. and Mrs. Ball. "We will go and get help," they said and drove away.
Five minutes later a second car stopped. It was another neighbor, Farmer Brown. "I'm glad you came along, George," said Farmer Green. "I'd hate to be pulled out by the Balls..."
