Restoration of Tom Myl's 1968 Super Stock BO29 Hemi Barracuda

-
here's a pic of my car in July of 1968 on the return road during the Super Stock Nationals @ New York National. If you look closely you can see the hood is still in black gel coat while the rest of the car is painted silver. Confirms this is an early car that didn't get a hood when delivered. Got damaged early in it's life also. Today, you can see where that dent was repaired from inside the trunk.

Small up date but a good one.

I finally had my first conversation with Tom Myl. What a great guy and the memory on this guy is second to none. I wished I recorded the conversation. So much information I was a little over whelmed to be honest. (We will talk again for sure. He said call anytime). Tom's car is # 7 sold, he named everybody who had received one before him even the person that was there the same day as him picking up the car before him. A story about tailoring the car home with no hood. It started to rain so they stop at the store and bought some shower caps to put on the carbs, luckily they bought a few of them because they lost a few on the highway. Every time they lost one they had to pull over and put a new one on. His car was one of the ones sold without a hood. The hood was shipped to him later. I asked him about the list of barracudas, He said the vin numbers were not in order at all, not even close. He also said that Arlen Vanke owned 3 new Hemi Barracudas not just two. Tom has so many pictures and so much information about this cars it is crazy. WOW! So much info, I can go on and on. Tom sounds like he was 35 years old and so has much energy.

Tom is so excited and honored that Tony is restoring the Hemi Barracuda back to the way Tom had it. They are still working out the color, long story, We went back and forth about it. How cool to have your name on the car with your DADS dealership name on it. They are working out other details too.

Wow that had to have been great talking with Tom first hand about his car! Did he say what his favorite color combo was on it? Please share more of his stories about the Cuda when you have time!

Car is in awsome hands. No worries about the quality of the job at hand.

The Red was Tom's favorite color. The red paint job was second to none (Top of the line for its time). Plus the transparent paint, very few had that.

Up date

After talking to Tom we decided to go Red

We have some base on the car.

1968 LO23 Darts & BO29 Barracuda's used black wrinkle valve covers , just like the street Hemi's. The breathers were different tho.
