We lost one of the best cats we've ever had a little while ago. Rest in peace, Happenstance (Happy). You were one hell of a cat.

Sad to hear Rob. Happy was a lucky cat to have the family and life that you and Kitty provided.
I feel like we shorted him somehow. He was fine Saturday and Sunday until early Sunday evening. He was layin around like he didn't feel good. By 1 AM this morning, he was gone. Acute kidney failure is all I can think of. Cats are kinda sensitive to that.

When my cat monster died earlier this year it was kind of a sudden "he was fine just a little bit ago" and then he was dead, too.
He would have been 17 this month if he'd have lived 5 months more. Him and our other old cat gizmo had gotten into a "fight" about 30 hours before monster died. They fought often.
(Gizmo just turned 16 still going) Monster just laid around, didn't hardly move the last 6-8 hours... I picked him up and knew he didn't have long. We had just gotten our newest "Max" 3 weeks before at Christmas. Max will be a year old in August.
I talked to my vet about how monster went, the vet said he probably "threw a blood clot" and she said it's common in older cats. This happened on a weekend and according to the vet even if we could have gotten Monster in right away once we noticed something wasn't right there was probably nothing a vet could have done for him

.

Happy looks like a great kitty, sorry to hear of his passing. I know you gave him a good life, and lots of love. RIP good kitten, and prayers for heart healing for you and Kitty!

Condolences to you and Kitty on the loss of your furry family member. No matter how many times you have been through it, it never gets any easier for us when one of our companions is gone.

R.I.P. Happy

Very sorry for your loss Rob. No matter how many times you go thru losing a little furry family member, it never gets any easier. :( R.I.P. Happy.

Sorry to hear about this. Any cat at your house has had a good life. Our critters become a part of us and it sure hurts when we lose one.

I highly doubt that you "shorted" him based on some of the posts you've made over the years.

Yup here too...
We actually got max when we did because we thought our Gizmo was on his way out. So that Monster would have a buddy. It was quite the surprise when monster checked out, he seemed fine, and we still have our Gizmo. We had 3 in the house for a few weeks / but were back back to 2. We've thought about getting another #3 for the same reason as we got max... But for now Gizmo is doing good.
I thought Gizmo had a belly tumor or some such, as it turns out he has arthritis in his back .. so when picked up and that flexes, his painful scowls were from that instead. I didn't know they would/ could do acupuncture for a cat... He's had that done twice now. Along with some pain meds we rarely give because they knock him out pretty much "cold" til they wear off... Even if we cut what the vet prescribed in half
He hasn't needed any in a while now he's more back to his old self lately....

Sorry for your loss. It's always very tough to lose a good friend.
