Hey all. I will be putting an Offy valve cover on my ride soon and wonder what would be the best choice for the gasket? It's a 225 btw.

Both rubber and cork leak for me. If a stiff cast aluminum valve cover and a flat, machined head surface, a silicone gasket is best, but I don't recall seeing those for a slant (RB & BB) and most of these old head designs have a rough sealing surface which is one of the reasons they leak. Next time I have a head at the shop, I'll try to have them mill a flat gasket surface.

Thanks for all the replies. Now need to finish the install of PCV in valve cover then install.

I use rubber and coat it in vaseline. That way the valve cover comes off without ripping the gasket when I need to do a valve adjustment.

rubber if you can get it to stay in place, they like to pinch out much easier than cork. myself, i really dont care as long as it doesnt leak, but if i can do it without paying a left kidney, i go rubber.
