So on the way home from work I stopped in at Sam's whorehouse to get some transmission fluid

I usually get the super engineered brand or whatever it was for 20 bucks a case. It used to say Dexron mercon III which is familiar and works on everything.

Today I get there and this is all they have, WTH is this ??

No fine print on the box to tell which version? Dexron is best for our old cars....ATF+4 is too slick for the oldies.

that's all I use in ALL my 727's and have for many years. **** works just fine.

no , I mean I use ATF+4 in all my transmissions. I can't speak on the Sam's stuff . I'm surprised it doesn't say what it is equivalent to.

went to Sam's website and it says suitable for Dextron II Dextron III and Mercon

It's almost ridiculous how many different atf's are out there. Especially for imports...use the wrong one and poof there goes your trans.

That's exactly the point...they dont want you to service it yourself

It must state somewhere whether it's on the box or the bottle what it's compatible with. You should yank one out of the box and read the bottle.

See if this is legible. Says in the bottom left it's Dexron and Mercon compatible.

All that said, you don't have to be picky about transmission for a three speed Torquflite, little one. They'll run on motor oil. That's a fact.

I got away from buying quarts a while ago and use 303 Hyd oil. rice is right only issue I have with it is it is clear so hard to see on the dipstick.
