Do you gents use the factory gasket or the old Indian Head gasket maker? I'm assuming you can't use a permatex product in this application. Just looking for some suggestions and/or input.

Thanks

I just glue a blue felpro gasket to the timing cover with the red snotty gasketsinch stuff. Then put another layer of the snotty stuff on the other side. Then bolt it on. Never a leak.

I always use a factory gasket, with a thin layer of black permatex on both sides of the gasket.
I use rubber glove and smooth it out evenly on the gasket.
Install bolts with Teflon paste on the threads.
Let sit for 24 hrs, add antifreeze, no leaks.

Gasket with very light coat of black rtv, just enough to make it sticky. Cleaned and checked flat mating surfaces is crucial no matter what you use. Installing a reman'd water pump once and found a piece of the previous gasket about 1/8" square under the fresh paint. So glad I checked it. Good luck
