Septic alarm

Have been having a problem with it. Last time it acted up I called the install guy who hooked me up with his electrician buddy. Siren goes off, alarm light steady..level is 5" below the float....keep in mind that it is a 1000 gallon pump chamber...Eugene, the electrician tells me it is just a float. Asks where I live....he sighs....asks are you capable of working around electric with out killing yourself? He is beyond busy and simply does not want to drive out here. Float from him will be $50....for him to come out and install another $100....

Sort of sleeping, 4:01 a.m. and the bastard goes off today. Pups start whining, let them out while I am getting dressed. Grab a flashlight and my glasses. Out to the shop to grab the tools. Pop open the lid to the pump chamber.....which is an eye opening experience at 4 in the effin morning. And the liquid is 5" below the float....

That will teach me for not fixing the damn thing:banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:

Being a plumber we have a lot of those systems here in the mountains,
Do you have a 2 or 3 float system, u can check the alarm float it may have water in it or the solid state relay may be bad you can un hook from control panel and with some help check with a OHM meter and it could be a bad relay in the control box it's self and not the float

It is a 3 float. Guy I spoke with claims he has never seen a bad relay. Told me it is not uncommon for the float switch to short and for it to act like this. Often times when the alarm goes off it is for less than 10 seconds and then it shuts off...and the light on the front goes off, which according to both the installer and the electrician I spoke with means that the fault is no longer present. I did take the lid off of the box inside the riser, it was dry. All wire nuts were tight. It has been silent, til this morning, since I did this about 3 weeks ago. Just wondering, any chance of me getting a float switch from you? The few supply houses in town do not do any retail so I have to either chase down the electrician I spoke with, who last we spoke was working 80 miles from me. Found a few places on line I can get it from but would I am one of those people that would much rather give money to people I know....

Just went off, by the time I got up it shut off....wait, there it is again....going to turn the damn system off and manual flip the switch....just shut off again....wonder how long it will be before our African Greys pick up the alarm sound....

Will pop the lid off later today to check the wires...pretty sure it is a 2 wire one but..
