A friend called up today. He likes to buy up old c bodies with big blocks and derby em. Nothing like a big block c body for killing Fhords and Chebbies!

Anyways he has a mid or late 70's c body that needs a control arm/torsion bar and is willing to give me a 440/727 in exchange for the work. He has all parts necessary. I would be lieing if I said I dont want a big block, but it's just a low compression smog motor. It does run very good however, but I think it's in one of his ex derby cars.:(.

I'd have to find a place to keep the dang motor/tranny too!

I was thinking of just dropping it in my Dart. He might even have the correct exhaust manifolds for this.. He is a good friend and wil likely give me whatever I need.

Whatcha think? Is the job worth it?

Go for it! Even if its a smog motor, it's still a 440. All you will be out is your time, so you won't have any cash at risk. :toothy8:

if that 440 is stamped 4006630 and is date coded late 75 I would take the chance.this is the best 440 produced, thicker main saddles ,weigh more than the older engines and have thicker webbing not all so you have to check

Where would I find that stamp? What about another year 440? Still worth it?
