Anyone follow the Silver State Challange. Weekend before last. Bud of mine goes there to be a corner worker. There were some pretty impressive times. Nobody was killed or seriously injured. One gal wreaked her car and ended up in a Reno hospital but it appears she’s out. Several cars stood out. 2007 Dodge Cup Car took top speed in the unlimited class. Average top speed was 250mph plus change. A Subaru WRX ran 130MPH average and there was a Bradly that was VW powered took his class. I guess there was a gal who came into hot in her vet and took out two other vetts.

I stand corrected on the cup car. He ran 179 and change average. Same for the WRX which ran an average 140 and change. I watched the in camera on the cup car and he did hit over 200 in several stretches of his run.

In theory passing should never happen in this event. You are run in classes, stepped off in intervals, targeting an average, have tech speed limits (x over target average).
They start with the faster (average) classes, work to slower with the unlimited (not average and no limits) classes last as most failures happen from that group.

Years ago I looked at building a car for this event.

Bucket list event for me. I’ve wanted to build a car for the silver state for a long time. Not sure I’ll ever have a car specifically for it, but I will race it at some point for sure.

Lots of late model. Be easy to run with a Challenger or Charger. Of course you’d have to be willing to eat the loss if you balled it up.

And you have to be willing to cut up a late model to add all the safety stuff. If you want to run big mph that is.
