So after installing my crank and rear main seal, about to put the oil pan on, I see that rubber L that sticks out, honestly have done 3 slant six oil pans gaskets and they never had that tab always was cut off on both my previous motors just had a thick dab of silicon and never had a leak on any of them.

Do you guys leave it seems like it would just case issues with slipping out when torqued. What way do you guys prefer? I see how dutra explains to do it but I feel like that a little too much to do when you can just add glue there instead.

I went through the same issue 1 1/2 years ago. Decided it was a good idea to cut the wings off. Felt wrong after doing the mod and was sent to this article by the forum.

Hm yeah well I guess I’ll report back with my results, cause I always use light amount of glue on the pan rails stick it on the oil pan also attach the rear rubber piece on the pan as well with light amount of glue, install the front rubber gasket with light amount of glue on the mining cover. Glue the corners like said in the article and the pan dry for about an hour then put the pan on and then snug it down.
