I have a 71 Duster that has a soft pedal that I can't seem to fix. When I purchased it, it had been converted to 73 disc brakes. I have, since then, replaced the front calipers, rear wheel cylinders, front brake hoses, and master cylinder. I bench bled the master and pressure bled the entire system multiple times, but still can't get a firm pedal. I was told to bleed the prop valve separately, but one was never installed during the conversion. Under hard braking, the brake light comes on indicating a pressure failure in one or more system and their are no leaks...I'm stumped

Or do you mean it wasn't replaced? Try bleeding one end, with a helper. About halfway down with the pedal (slowly) it might click. tighten the bleeder. That centered the valve. If not, try it on the other end of the car.

This is the part I'm referring to

make sure the front bleeders are at the top of the calipers.

Turned out to be misaligned hardware in the left rear drum brake assembly and very slight leakage at the distribution valve.
