Speedometer evaluation?

That's 10 more than most us have taken apart! All of your insight is really appreciated!
With glasses a magnifying glass, the answer is yes. I tried a close up photo, lets see how it came out.

All too easily. :(
The input spindle has just a little side play at the drum. Using a dial indicator its about 0.004"
But the drum has around 0.020"
Think this needs to go to watchmaker for repair...

Interesting, I just noticed the oil cup.

Yup.

Pishta posted about that sometime back. I should take a magnefier to see if the dimple at the bottom of the cup is really a pin hole.
Now I know the rear (input) is not the main issue, I'll leave any disassembly to the repair shop.

I still need to figure out if the drive cable and cable housing should be replaced. It's hard to imagine there isn't some wear considering the miles.

Got a call from Bob's Speedometer this morning.
They'll replace the bearings and recommend a new cable and housing. They'll transfer the grommet to the new cable house. Should be done next week.

They said to back well. Everyone has different resources. These happened to be mine

That box went a larger box that included the cable.
