(The 33 tooth gear has a little "crease" in them, as if a sliver of something got caught in the gears at some point. It can be felt with your fingernail. But they are all there, solid & straight.)

and the age of the transmission

Earlier than '66 use a different number of teeth to determine the correct reading, but it's a different design that doesn't interchange with this type. They changed the pinion style again I believe in the '80's sometime.

you know by chance what gear woulda came in a 727 with 391 in a 69 gs dart standard yet pm me if yah kno and have 1 for sale thoght it was white but cant remeber any more
 
You would have to know the tire size and its diameter that came on the car, then refer to the chart link in post #4.

But if the car now has different tires, you'd have to measure their diameter and use that number with the current gear ratio to figure what you'd need for the correct speedometer reading now.

The pinions have the number molded into the plastic gear.
 
Sale pending on a 34, 35 & 36.

Only have the one 36 tooth but more 34 and 35 are available.
