This inquiry is in regard to my 1972 Coronet , but should be generic to all vintage MoPars :

The trans mount is junk in my Coronet . It was replaced 3 years ago --- for free --- when the trans was rebuilt ( 904-LA ) ; it is now trash .

Since I want to avoid buying the garbage mounts that parts stores carry ( they're all the same : Chinese **** ! ) , and since I got a Poly mount from a friend of mine ( he converted his Satellite to a Keisler 5 speed ) , I'm wanting to use this . The problem is my Coronet ( late 1972 build : 07/1972 ) has the spool mount , whereas the Poly mount is biscuit-style .

I've read somewhere that these mounts are actually interchangeable ; is this true ?
I know that manual trans mounts and T-Flite mounts are the same , but wasn't sure about the spool-to-biscuit deal .

I hope I can just plug that made-in the-U.S.A. Poly mount , and therefore avoid buying yet another Chinese piece-of-**** part that won't last :angry8: .

Thanks much !

P.S. If you wish to email me directly : [email protected]

You cant run a biscuit mount on a spool X member or visaversa. You will need to get another X member for the mount you want to run.

Thats how it is on A's any way.

Why not get the poly spool mount and have the best of both worlds? The spool mount is much stronger anyway.

after checking around , I've noticed that there are the poly inserts available , enabling me to keep the present housing / brackets .

Thank God I don't have to buy another made-in-China piece of **** item !

Thanks much your your input , guys :)

That's what I did on my 67 Dart. I got a spool crossmember, and installed a poly mount. It was way better than the older mount.

I installed mine in the car. I would have saved time by removing the crossmember and installing the mount on the bench, and then reinstalling the crossmember. "Squeezing" the poly material while laying under the car on jackstands just doesn't work. Your experience may vary.

I'm planning to remove the cross member and put it on the bench . That'll be difficult enough of a task for me , as I have arthritis .
Laying on my back working under a car is a daunting task ; even a 'simple' oil change is a ***** most times !

I hear you. Shoveling snow has about crippled me this winter. I'm not sure how I'll be able to work on my cars come spring. It's not fun when you need both hands to pick up an alternator. I hope I can work through some of this pain. I'm only 40, dangit.

I'm chronologically 40 as well ; I'll be 41 in April . I feel like I've got the body of an 80 year old , with the ability to be both 5 and 50 mentally .

Speaking of "progeria" problems : I'm going in at 10:30 today for some more numbing injections from my pain management specialist . At the risk of sounding sarcastic ... I'm actually looking forward to it :iconbigg: .
